You are not a 90’s kid if you are not completely obsessed with collecting make-belief monsters in that all too familiar red and white ball.
Of course, we are talking about the million dollar franchise of Pokemon, which has taken the world by storm since the late 20th century.
90’s kids, get excited for Pokemon is now coming to your smartphone in an augmented-reality mobile game, called Pokemon GO.
The idea? Pokemon…but in the REAL world! Utilising your smart phone’s camera, you can see Pokemon in the environment around you.
For the hardcore Pokemon trainers, you can even travel to certain REAL locations to find more exotic and rarer Pokemon.
For example, you can better find a Squirtle near a coastal area, and a Weedle near a forested area. Hmm, I wonder what kind of Pokemon resides in the urban jungle of Singapore, though.
Like a real Pokemon trainer, other than locating Pokemon, you can catch, trade and battle with your Pokemon, and even connect with other Pokemon Go trainers as you do so.
There is also different levels as a trainer, and the higher and better trainer you are, you get to catch even more powerful Pokemon. Earn powerful balls like Great Balls that enable you to catch Pokemon with ease!
If you’re still not excited and getting you Ash Ketchum outfit ready, another major addition on top of Pokemon GO is Pokemon GO Plus, a real device that complements your Pokemon GO mobile game. The device is a wristband with a Pokeball that alerts you when a Pokemon is nearby.
Nintendo explains how it works: “When the smartphone with Pokemon GO and the paired Pokemon GO Plus accessory are within range of each other, both will begin to vibrate when a Pokemon is close by. With the convenience of not having to look at your smartphone, simply press the button on the Pokemon GO Plus to attempt to catch a Pokemon while you are out and about.”
Ready to catch ‘em all? Pokemon GO will be released in July this year! However, Pokemon Go Plus will be released at a later date. The 90’s kid must be super psyched – even I can’t wait to download it!
