In case you’re not aware, a number of celebrities have been targeted by hackers recently.
Last week, it was reported that celebrity hairstylist David Gan, veteran actress Aileen Tan and Chen Xiuhua had their Instagram accounts hacked; all of them, except Aileen, lost access to their accounts.
According to reports, they were victims of phishing—they’ve received emails from “Instagram” that instructed them to click on a link if not their account would be deleted. Believing that it was a legit email, they clicked on it and ta-da: their accounts were taken over by the hackers, who demanded money if not they’ll delete the account.
So far, only Aileen Tan managed to get her account back after contacting Facebook, which owns Instagram.
Turns out that a few other Mediacorp celebrities have also been contacted by the fake Instagram email, but they did not fall prey to the hackers.
So, what’s the blabbering about Instagram, when you’re here to read some private DMs?
Because screengrabs of a private Instagram conversation between two Mediacorp celebrities were leaked online, and one can only wonder if there’s any correlation between the hacks and this latest leak.
Ian Fang & Carrie Wong
If you’re not familiar with them, I understand: you could be part of the generation that has stopped watching TV since the early 2010s, for that was when these two celebrities appeared on TV.
29-year-old Ian Fang is one of the 8 Dukes of Caldecott Hill. Debuted in 2012, he won the Best Newcomer award at Star Awards 2013, and has been active in our small screen since then, taking both supporting roles or one of the lead actors. In Star Awards 2019, he was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
25-year-old Carrie Wong, who often starred as the onscreen partner of Aloysius Pang, was spotted in a variety show when she was a polytechnic student in 2013. The next year, she went on to sign a full-time contract with Mediacorp and in recent years, she has been taking lead roles and won every Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes since 2015.
Both are established celebrities with lots of fans; Ian Fang has 217K Instagram followers while Carrie Wong has 271K followers.
(By the way, Goody Feed has only 6K followers, so help us a little by following us lah)
On Valentine’s Day this year, Carrie went public with her relationship with a Taiwanese, while Ian Fang hasn’t openly revealed his relationship status.
Unexpected DMs That Broke the Internet
This afternoon (14 May 2019), 8 Days reported that screenshots of a private Instagram conversation between Ian and Carrie were leaked.
And it’s not just any “later eat what” or “help me buy food” DMs we’re talking about.
They are DMs that you won’t let your kids read.
It’s unknown how the screenshots got leaked, or who leaked them, but both Ian and Carrie have confirmed that they aren’t fake.
Instead, they were “written in jest”.
Here’s Ian’s response: “With regards to a private conversation between me and my good friend Carrie Wong that’s been circulating online, I’m very shocked. For this, I want to apologise to everyone for my inappropriate behaviour.
“Carrie and I are such good friends that there is nothing we can’t say to each other. I admit that the language we used was vulgar and inappropriate and I apologise for that. I also feel bad for those who have read the messages.
“As a public figure, I will pay more attention to my actions in the future.”
And here’s Carrie’s response: “Ian and I have been good friends for many years, and we don’t put too much thought into what we say to each other.
“The indecent language we used in our private conversation has caused a lot of unnecessary worry and hurt to everyone, and I’m deeply regretful for causing that. I’ve been reflecting a lot on my actions after the incident and I take responsibility for my inappropriate language.
“I am also grateful to my boyfriend for his trust and I want to offer my deepest apologies to everyone.”
Company Steps in as Well
Mediacorp’s The Celebrity Agency has also chimed in to the issue with this statement: “The conversation, as we understand it, was a private exchange conducted in jest. However, it was distasteful and inappropriate.
“The parties involved are deeply embarrassed and have no doubt, taken away many lessons from this unfortunate incident. We expect our artistes, being public figures, to conduct themselves professionally and appropriately at all times.”
In other words, it’s all apologies and whatnot, and no mention of how such a private conversation could fall into public domain.
So, what are the messages?

Ian: “Hahahahahaha”
Carrie: “Really…”
Carrie: “Falling asleep fast…”

Carrie: “You gave me such a cute teeheee.”
Carrie: “I can only smile to myself.”

Carrie: *a photo*
Carrie: “I’ve got a meeting tomorrow, and a lot of other stuff.”
Carrie: “I still haven’t received the next 10 episodes.”
Ian: “So busy.”
Ian: “What time will you reach the office tomorrow?”
Ian: “If there’s fate, let’s ****.”
Ian: “I mean let’s kiss.”
Carrie: “Which way do you mean?”
Ian: “Spiritually, physically.”
Carrie: “I can spiritually haha.
Carrie: “I’ve had to bear with it for so many years.”
Ian: “What about physically?”
Carrie: “Please don’t leave a bruise.”
Ian: “Haha, you little idiot.”
Ian: “I’ll try.”
Ian: “I plant the most number of strawberries.”
Carrie: “If you make me pain again, I’ll really bite you back.”
Ian: “Of course you’re better than her, the last time I was talking to her, I missing you. So… that’s four years ago.”
Carrie: “You have so many times. I don’t know which time”
Carrie: “Oh gosh.”
Carrie: “Before I could read the full message, I only saw, “Of course you’re better than her, she and I have….”
Carrie: “My heart (finger blocked the next few words)”
Ian: “Hahahahahaha”
Ian: “Stupid or what.”
Carrie: “I’m only stupid when I’m with you.”
Ian: “My gosh. Then it means I’m causing you harm. Such an outstanding, pretty lady.”
Carrie: “The most outstanding and the prettiest.”
Carrie: “Hahahahahaha”
