Fans of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, we’ve got great news for you, and some bad ones too!
The Good News: It’s Opening in November!
If you’re a fan of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, there’s an F.R.I.E.N.D.S themed cafe opening up right here in Singapore to give you the most authentic F.R.I.E.N.D.S experience you can get short of going to America.
We’ve previously written about this cafe in a previous article. Now, the cafe management has announced that the opening of the cafe will be on 24 November 2016.
But that’s not all.
If You Want to be a Member, You have to Pay $1,000 annual fees
The cafe trend, especially the themed ones, is what we like to call fast-hot. It’ll be popular incredibly fast then die down incredibly fast too. Almost like the lifespan of a mosquito, grow fast, live hard, die early.
So I won’t blame the owners of the cafe for trying to strike while the iron is hot but this is a tad bit too much, purely my opinion, of course.
The cafe has started its membership sales and the price for a one-year membership is pretty, well, astronomical.
For a year’s membership, you get the following perks:
- Priority queue, (bring in up to 5 guests at once)
- Table reservations (Includes the highly anticipated Central Perk couch, reservations are a members’ only privilege)
- Event bookings (Birthdays, Wedding shoots, etc)
- Personalised guest invitations to Central Perk SG events.
- Exclusive Pre-Launch events and tastings at Central Perk for our early batch of members to be the first to enjoy the Central Perk experience.
And to sweeten the deal, the membership perks only starts in January 2017 but those who register fast enough can enjoy it from this December onward. And there’ll be more perks to come.
Netizens’ reactions: too much, too fast?
The cafe has been enjoying huge popularity before this announcement and everybody were eagerly awaiting the opening of this cafe. Unfortunately, they weren’t eager enough to fork out $1,000 for membership fees.
And some words of wisdom.
Of course, not all dismissed the possibility of paying for the membership.
Would you buy this membership?
Of course, at the end of the day, I figured that this, while funny, doesn’t really affect us all that much, methinks.
After all, I can just skip the membership and queue up like regular people. Unless the price of membership is indicative of the prices of food and merchandise within, then yeah, I’ll start to cry father, cry mother.
What do you think?
