Everything About Facebook’s Avatar Which You Should Be Seeing on Your Newsfeed Now

The value of social media has never truly been appreciated until Covid-19 reared its ugly-ass head.

In addition to Netflix, social media has been keeping us busy and sane while we’re stuck at home during this interminable pandemic.

Boss: What about actually doing some work?

Good one, boss.

Still, with so many apps out there, companies have to compete for our attention, which is why they’re constantly introducing new updates and features to impress its users.

Now, it’s Facebook’s turn.

Everything About Facebook’s Avatar Which You Should Be Seeing on Your Newsfeed Now

You might soon see avatars instead of humans on your Facebook feed, but this isn’t an AI invasion, at least not yet.

It’s just Facebook’s new Avatars feature, which gives users another way to express themselves on the platform.

Just like Snapchat’s Bitmoji and Apple’s Memoji, this feature allows users to create an animated version of themselves and customise details such as skin colour, body shape, and hairstyle, among other things.

Planning a date night for your significant other? Well, you can simply send an image of your avatar popping a bottle of champagne.

Or you could send a flirty sticker if you have something a little more saucy in mind.

You can use your Facebook avatar in your Facebook posts, Messenger, stories, and even comments.

“With so much of our lives taking place online right now, we’re excited to give more people a way to convey their authentic identity when expressing themselves on Facebook,” the company said in a statement.

“You’ll also be able to share a range of emotions and expressions via stickers in comments, Messenger, and stories that are uniquely representative of you”.

How To Create Your Own Avatar

Creating your own Facebook avatar is pretty simple. Just follow these steps:

  1. Download the latest Facebook app on your iOS or Android device
  2. Log in to the app and click on the three lines menu, which is located at the top right for Android users and bottom left for iPhone users
  3. Scroll down and click on “See More”
  4. Tap on the “Avatars” option
  5. Customise the features of your avatar, including its clothes and accessories
  6. Tap “Done” when finished

To use your avatar, simply tap on the emoji icon in any text field and select the avatar from the sticker section.

You can now take part in the world’s most unnecessarily animated conversation.
