If you are both a hipster and a coffee connoisseur, you will be elated to know that Omotesando Koffee will be opening an outlet right here in our shores! The cafe has opened coffee joints in both Hong Kong and Japan, and is set to open here come June.
What can you expect from Omotesando Koffee?
Not only will the cafe feature beans from Melbourne that has been roasted in the Ogawa Coffee Roasters in Kyoto, the coffee barristers in Singapore will also be personally trained by the Japanese barristers so as to ensure the consistency in the quality of the coffee prepared. The cafe will also be selling their signature bite-sized custard cakes, which is also a popular favourite in the cafe in Japan.
The menu in Singapore will also sell some exclusive items, but will also the menu as that of Hong Kong’s and Japan’s.
The cafe is a partnership with The Work Project, and will be situated within the co-working space on Level 4 of the Downtown Gallery.
How did they rise to fame?
Omotesando Koffee first started their outlet at Kyoto, Japan, where they brewed coffee in the now-defunct space. What was suppose to be a 1-year pop-up store lasted for 5 years in business before closing for good due to the age of the stop space it was housed in.
The closure of the cafe got many of their fans into forming long queues outside the backstreet shops in the blistering cold, all desperate to savour one last cup before the cafe closed for good.
Omotesando Koffee then opened with an outpost in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, and has also become a popular hanging spot for many coffee-drinkers alike.
As of now, we only have news that the cafe will commence in the latest Downtown Gallery in June. However, not much information has been disclosed about the store yet.
