If you’re a huge DoTS fan, chances are you’d have heard that there’s going to be a Chinese movie spin-off. Excited? We sure are! Even though there’s no Song Joong Ki in this, who knows – you might discover another charming actor to fangirl over.
Here are the details on DoTS’ upcoming move to the big screen:

Chinese director Zhang Yi-bai has been put in charge of the movie adaptation. “I feel big pressure since the TV drama series Descendants Of The Sun is already a big hit with very charming male and female protagonists,” he said at a press conference in Beijing.
And that is very true – whoever is chosen to replace the Song-Song couple will find it difficult to recreate the super romantic love story between the two!
At the moment, the cast of the upcoming film has yet to be decided.
If you’ve been living under a rock and have never heard of DoTS before this, here’s what you need to know:
The drama is about Special Forces unit captain Yoo Si Jin (played by Song Joong Ki), who is dispatched on a peacekeeping mission to a nation on the brink of war.
There, he falls in love with volunteer surgeon Kang Mo Yeon (played by Song Hye Kyo).
The drama was a massive hit not only in South Korea but also abroad, smashing viewership records left and right.
Following the show’s success, there was talk of a second season, with rumours going around that it would focus on the supporting characters (played by Jin Goo and Kim-Ji Won) instead – but there are no concrete plans yet.

In the meantime, we have the Chinese adaptation to tide us over. Even though we won’t get to see Yoo Si Jin or Seo Dae Young in action, you can bet we’ll be watching.
Here’s what NCMPs are, and what to expect after GE2025:
