Father & Grandfather Attempt To Bury Newborn Baby Alive Because She’s A Girl

It’s mostly a happy occasion when a child is born into a family.

Families may have preferences if they want a boy or girl but the child is ultimately a blessing nonetheless.

Unfortunately, some people just aren’t ready to be parents.

We’ve heard cases of people physically or emotionally abusing their children, an absolute nightmare of a situation.

But this is the first time I’ve seen someone try to bury a child because of their gender.

Attempted Burial

Oh yeah, you definitely read that last line right.

This case in Secunderabad, India, is going to explain everything.

According to The News Minute, an auto-rickshaw driver noticed the two men carrying something wrapped in a bundle of blankets and acting suspiciously.

When the two men tried to bury the bundle near a bus station, the driver got even more suspicious and alerted the police.

It was then revealed that the bundle was actually a newborn girl.

Upon questioning, her grandfather started sobbing and saying that he was burying her remains.

This might have worked if the baby didn’t start moving soon after.

The duo of grandfather and presumably the baby’s father were detained immediately with the child being moved to a government-run hospital in the city.

Thankfully, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police S Srinivas has said that the baby’s treatment was going well.

You can watch the video footage of the events here.

If you got upset about the man fake crying I’m here to tell you: same.

Reason For Abandonment

So now we get to the part that might make you all even angrier.

Says.com mentioned that when the grandfather realised the child was a girl, the whole family decided to not bring her home.

Hey.

That’s incredibly stupid and sexist of you.

Yet, the duo was released on 1 November 2019 with the police investigating further into the case. The family is all under counselling as well.

They also suspect that the girl had medical complications that the family likely couldn’t afford.

This also makes no sense to me because throwing out a child is still wrong. I’m sure there are alternatives besides killing.

Also, I’m not sure how much help counselling would do considering this was a joint decision by the family.

Always be prepared for complications if you want to have children. Remember that you are bringing a new life into the world and must be responsible for it.
