There’s a mystery that has been haunting the nation for decades, and it needs to be solved now.

How local ice-cream uncles get their ice-cream in the first place.
Yeah, I know. This surely ranks amongst the most mysterious things to have happened in Singapore, right next to the Merlion and how it was born.
Thankfully, however, local Youtube channel Our Grandfather Story sought to absolve this mystery once and for all, and as it turns out…
It’s quite an interesting revelation.

Meet the all-chill Father and Son Duo
Now, I’ve encountered a multitude of accomplished father-and-son duos in this lifetime:
- The Rocky duo
- The Cristiano Ronaldo duo
- Super Saiyan Dragon Ball duo
- Star Wars duo
But none, none of them, manages to create the same impact this pair did:

“Who’re them?” you wonder aloud. Well, they’re none other than a heroic duo…
That supplies ice-cream to the local ice-cream men.
Meet Goh Soo Khin and his son, Kenneth. They’re in the ice-cream business, and they run Chip Guan Heng together.
Incidentally, the older Goh had established the business in 1970, which means that it’s now a seasoned 49 years old.
The perfect age to become a cougar, hell’s bells.

Apart from supplying ice-cream, the business sells just about everything related to the sweetened frozen food, whether it’s dry ice, waffle biscuits or the all-important bread.
“How does it work?” you ask.
Well according to the video, ice-cream vendors will turn up early in the day to stock up (as early as 6:00 a.m. if they live far) on whatever they need.

They will be requested to make orders, and the company packs the goods for them. If they order loose items, they can procure it from the chiller outside. If they order in bulk, the company will get the packaged ice-cream from the cold room…
Which is kept at a chilling negative 18-degree Celsius.
But long story short… the ice-cream business might make every consumer out there happy, but it doesn’t seem to be the easiest of jobs.
