Father Threatened Son With Knife After He Was Caught Badmouthing Him in Toa Payoh

It doesn’t feel good when you hear people badmouthing you.

But to what extent would you go to attack the person who was speaking badly about you?

Well, in this case, the person who got badmouthed went to threaten to attack his accuser with a knife.

Isn’t that a little too extreme?

Plot twist: The father was being badmouthed by his son. (Yes, the father threatened his own son with a knife.)

Father Kicked Up A Ruckus

The incident occurred at a playground near Block 106 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh at around 6pm, according to Lianhe Zaobao.

It was a pretty peaceful day until the father started a commotion and became verbally abusive. It soon boiled into an argument between the father and the son.

An eyewitness had told the police that the man had overheard his 14-year-old son badmouthing him and therefore picked a fight.

Shouted “Parang Knife!

It was reported that the argument went to and fro for one and a half hours before the father shouted “Parang Knife!” and rushed back to his ground-floor flat, where he changed clothes and returned with a 10cm “machete”.

The father allegedly ran 100m to Braddell MRT station while holding the knife.

How I imagined the situation to look like:

“Everyone Was Shocked”

Another witness saw him with two “poles” of different thickness at the MRT station.

According to the witness, the father was walking around and going back home when he suddenly got angry and lashed out at RANDOM strangers, shouting, “See what see?”

He also hit a pillar with his pole.

Seems like he’s really very angry at his son for badmouthing him, or really drunk.

Police Was Alerted

The eyewitness who had overheard the argument called the police for help after the man had threatened his son.

The police were alerted of the case at 6.45pm and arrested the man.

Fortunately, no one was hurt and the father calmed down at around 7.30pm before being taken away by the police.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Hmm.. here’s a little tip: don’t be busybody go stare at people who are lashing out their anger in public. This man might have just shouted “see what see” but he could have attacked with the weapons in his hands.

Stay safe.
