How many of you guys here actually grew up listening to FIR songs?
Let’s have a show of hands.
Well, I’m pretty sure that diehard fans of FIR would’ve heard the news by now, but your beloved band, FIR, is technically no more.
Faye Didn’t Know
Faye, the lead singer of FIR, revealed that she only found out about the news that FIR will be releasing new songs due to netizens sharing the news on Facebook. After logging onto the fan page of FIR, she then found out that her administrative rights had been removed.
Wait, how could she not know that FIR is releasing new songs? Isn’t she the lead singer?
Faye then said that: “Upon speaking to with Ian Chen and Real, I’ve found out about their new plans for the band. Although this might not involve me, I will still be looking forward to hearing their new songs.”
…Wow, that’s incredibly polite and politically correct of her to say that.
Honestly though, without Faye, how is FIR still FIR?
According to Ian Chen, Faye is indeed leaving FIR. He said: “Faye has been going solo for a few years now. After talking about this for 5 years, Real and I still wish to work together with a record label while Faye would prefer to express herself more freely. After all, the band has to go on. We did not release any songs for the past 5 years, and we all have our own views when it comes to music. We will respect that and wish each other the best in our future endeavours.”
When asked about the removal of Faye’s administrative rights, Ian Chen claims that this is because the manager for their Facebook fan page would like to unify the administrative rights under one account. This would streamline the process and make things “less messy”.
In other words, Faye’s rights were removed because of…convenience?
Not The First Time
Anyway, this entire hoo-ha wasn’t exactly a one-off thing. Back in November last year, there were rumours of Ian Chen embezzling and pocketing 20 million TWDs’ worth of contract money.
Faye was upset about this and refused to go for recording sessions. Soon after, Ian Chen and Real revealed that only the two of them have signed a contract with HIM International Music because Faye didn’t wish to be tied down by contracts.
Whatever the case, we can be sure that FIR will definitely be different now that Faye is no longer a part of the band.
Still, I thought that they could’ve done a better job at breaking the news to Faye. I’m sure it wasn’t pleasant finding out that you’ve been kicked out of your band via third party sources.
