Even the most ardent dog lover wouldn’t deny that dogs can be a little irritating sometimes.
Like when you come back home after a long day’s work to find your shoes dismembered, or when you wake up in the morning and accidentally step on a huge pile of dog poop in the living room.
Not to mention that they can drive us barking mad with their, well, barking.
When that happens, most of us would probably go to a different room, take it for a walk, or even shout at it, if we lose our temper.
This woman, however, has an entirely different and more sociopathic way of dealing with this issue: throwing it out of the window.
FDW Who Threw Dog Off the Balcony ‘Coz It Was Noisy Jailed for 4 Weeks
A 28-year-old foreign domestic worker has been sentenced to four weeks in jail after flinging a dog from the third-storey balcony of a house because it was noisy.
Her employer, Mr Stanley Huipoor, brought the poor dog to the vet but it had to be euthanised because of its injuries.
According to The New Paper, the domestic helper, Indonesian Guyanti Wulandari, began working at the Sunrise Walk house near Yio Chu Kang Road on 15 Dec last year.
Her tasks included doing household chores, cooking, and looking after Mr Hui’s pets – two birds and two dogs.
Unfortunately, it seems like Wulandari was not much of an animal lover. She also had no prior experience in caring for pets.
On 13 May this year, Wulandari went to a third-storey bedroom in the house to clean a birdcage.
She grew annoyed because the birds were noisy and Dou Dou, who was also in the room, kept barking at her.
At this point, she had three options:
1. Leave the room
2. Put on some earphones and listen to some music
3. Literally anything but throw the dog from the balcony
There are probably many other things she could have done, but the helper was so maddened that she opened the glass door to the balcony, picked Dou Dou up, and threw it down from the balcony in a fit of rage.
After which she panicked and ran downstairs to check on the dog.
After Mr Hui was alerted to the incident, he took Dou Dou to the vet where it was found to have suffered multiple injuries.
Sadly, it had to be put down to end its suffering.
Under “a Lot of Stress”
Mr Hui contacted NParks the next day, suspecting that his helper had thrown Dou Dou.
During investigations, Wulandari said she was under “a lot of stress” at the time.
Mr Hui’s father, who helped to take care of the pets, have returned to Hong Kong.
This resulted in more work for her, she said.
Wulandari pleaded guilty to one count of causing unnecessary pain and suffering to a dog and was sentenced to 4 weeks in prison.
Her lawyer said she had “snapped” that day and could not explain why she had committed the offence.
“The accused has learnt from her mistake and is distressed by this entire affair, and is extremely apologetic for any hardship and pain she had caused”, he said.
Harsh Punishment for Animal Abusers
According to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), if you are found guilty of animal abuse, you could be fined up to $15,000, jailed up to 18 months, or both, even if it’s your first offence.
Offenders who are in animal-related businesses will face heftier penalties for animal cruelty – up to $40,000 in fines or jail not exceeding two years, or both.
So, you might want to think twice before you fling an animal out the window. Unless it’s a bird, of course.
