Fiona Xie, well known for being one of the Seven Princesses of Mediacorp (a list comprising 7 very attractive actresses in Mediacorp), fell off public attention years ago.
It was later revealed that she had gone on a 7-year hiatus to have some time for herself, and live her own life away from her acting career, only returning late last year. Her new friends in the fine arts that she had made in those few years convinced her to return to her craft.
And return to her craft she did, coming back to Singapore to film the TV series, Left Behind.

Now, she’s leaving us again.
Fret not, however, as this time she’s not even going far away. Just to Malaysia, to film the upcoming Hollywood film featuring wealthy families living in Singapore, Crazy Rich Asians.
The film, produced under movie studio Warner Bros. Pictures, will be filmed entirely in Malaysia and Singapore, so it’s expected that Fiona Xie would be travelling between the two locations too.
The film is based on worldwide bestseller of the same name, written by Singapore-born writer Kevin Kwan in 2013. It is a romantic comedy about wealthy families in Singapore.
The cast is quite star-studded too, featuring Asian actors and actresses such as Constance Wu (based in US), local actor Pierre Png, and even renowned actress Michelle Yeoh.
This is how you do Asian films, Hollywood. You star Asian actors and actresses, especially when the source material talks about Asians. As the book featured Singaporeans, it is of course natural to feature Singaporean actors and actresses too.
It is rather exciting to see our own TV stars appear on a Hollywood film.
