She described her experience with characteristic wit, saying her heart had staged a rebellion and the universe had sent her a care package disguised as medical appointments.

Fiona Xie Health Checkups Reveal Multiple Medical Concerns

The comprehensive medical examination addressed several health issues that had been troubling the actress. Doctors investigated what Fiona described as “rogue palpitations”: irregular heartbeats or heart rhythms that had been causing concern.

The medical team conducted a thorough tinnitus investigation. This typically involves assessment by an ENT specialist, including hearing tests and potentially brain scans or special audiograms.

Doctors also examined her ski-damaged knee during the checkup session. The actress revealed that blood work conducted as part of the examination “revealed more than I bargained for”, though she did not elaborate on the specific findings.

Fiona posted videos documenting some of these medical procedures on her Instagram account. She emphasised the critical importance of regular medical checkups, particularly given her family’s recent health struggles.

The actress explained her motivation for the thorough medical examination. She said having gone through health scares with her cousin and close friends battling cancers and autoimmune diseases made regular medical checks imperative.

Fiona Xie Recent Work: From Acting to Sustainable Business Investment

Fiona praised the medical staff at Thomson Specialists for their care during her health scare. She specifically thanked Kiat, Jon, Evelyn and Dr Melissa for turning her “hypochondriac panic into the most thorough love letter my body has ever received”. She described their persistent kindness as her quiet salvation.

The actress reflected on the experience with gratitude, noting that sometimes breaking down is just breaking open to care you forgot you deserved.

Since stepping back from full-time acting in 2009, Fiona has diversified into business ventures and investments. She currently serves as an investor in Singapore-based startup TreeDots, a food surplus marketplace founded in 2017.

TreeDots raised $11 million in Series A funding in November 2021, co-led by venture capital firms East Ventures and Amasia. Fiona participated as one of the investors in this funding round alongside other notable figures including author Nir Eyal.

The company operates as Asia’s first vertically integrated food supply chain ecosystem. TreeDots connects suppliers with businesses and households to sell surplus and “imperfect” food items at up to 90 percent discounts from retail prices.

She also has a venture partnership with Amasia, a global firm focused on sustainability and climate solutions.

The actress explained her interest in how venture capitalism helps early-stage businesses grow and scale. She views TreeDots as advancing the sustainable food marketplace in Singapore and Malaysia.

TreeDots aims to save 2 million tonnes of food waste and reduce carbon emissions by 18 million tonnes by 2025. The startup has expanded from Singapore into Malaysia and plans further regional expansion.

In the entertainment industry, Fiona appeared in the Hollywood blockbuster Crazy Rich Asians in 2018, playing the role of Kitty Pong. She is slated to reprise this role in the upcoming sequel China Rich Girlfriend based on Kevin Kwan’s novel.

The actress was previously one of Mediacorp’s “Seven Princesses” alongside fellow actresses Joanne Peh and Rui En during her peak years in local television. She left full-time acting in 2009 and briefly returned in 2016 for the MediaCorp series Left Behind.
