There Will Be Fireworks, Livestreaming of NDP & 90s Great S’pore Workout at S’pore Sports Hub on 9 Aug

Singapore’s birthday is just around the corner, and plenty of celebrations are across the island.

From displaying national flags outside your HDB flat window to dressing in red and white to the iconic National Day Parade (NDP), people are getting ready to party on 9 August 2023.

The Singapore Sports Hub is also no exception. It organised various exciting events to celebrate the nation’s birthday with its Majulah Fiesta 2023.

Here are some of the highlights.

You Can Watch the Live Telecast of the NDP

What is National Day without the NDP?

If you want to watch the NDP with your friends but are too lazy to invite your kakis (friends) to your house, how about gathering at the National Stadium instead?

Between 5 pm and 9 pm on 9 August 2023, the NDP will be screened live at OCBC Square and Stadium Roar.

Invite your friends and family, bring some snacks and get ready to enjoy a night full of festivities.

As some roads are expected to be closed, you are encouraged to take public transport to the venue instead. The nearest MRT station is Stadium MRT station (on the Circle Line).

Expect a Fireworks Display Near the National Stadium

If you want to join the Singapore Sports Hub celebrations but are FOMO about missing out on the live fireworks.

Fret not.

One of the highlights of Majulah Fiesta 2023 is the fireworks segment after the NDP screening.

The Singapore Sports Hub has planned to set off its fireworks along Stadium Riverside Walk, and attendees will likely get an excellent front-row view of the fireworks.

How About Relieving the Great Singapore Workout From the 1990s?

This segment is a call to those who are nostalgic and remember the Great Singapore Workout from the 1990s.

For youngsters who have never encountered this iconic workout, it is a “popular fitness initiative that promotes a healthy and active lifestyle”.

There is a primary “instructor” or a group of them who make the moves, and everyone else follows.

Not too complicated right?

The Great Singapore Workout usually “consists of a series of simple exercises that can be done by people of all ages and fitness levels,” so there’s no need to be malu (embarrassed) about being unable to keep up with the instructors.

Here’s an example of how the Great Singapore Workout used to be, with the moves and exercises in sync with that familiar music.

For those interested, the Great Singapore Workout (90s) & Dance segment will be held from 11 am to 12 pm at OCBC Square on 9 August 2023.

Just in time to break a sweat before grabbing a bite for lunch.

No registration is needed to join the workout.
