How much do you loooooove pancakes?
Like, A LOT?
Then, you’ve most likely seen videos upon videos of a stack of three jiggly, fluffy pancakes being shaken on a plate all over YouTube or your Instagram feed on your hunt for the best pancakes in the world.
These are, honestly, enough to make everyone’s tummy rumble and crave the satisfaction of sweet and soft pancakes.
WOAH THERE.
‘What is a diet?’ you ask as you Google just where to find these appetising pancakes to please your tastebuds.
Google ends up telling you, sorry bud, these pancakes are from Japan.
Aw, man, why is it that the good things are always not available in Singapore?! 🙁
But I’m here to tell you some good news – your pancake problem won’t exist any longer!
Gram Cafe & Pancakes’ Grand Opening
Yep, Gram Cafe & Pancakes, a Japanese pancake cafe chain where the aforementioned viral jiggly pancakes on social media hailed from, is finally coming to Singapore. Just for us.
Gram Cafe & Pancakes will be opening its first outlet in Singapore located at Vivo City on 16 June at 1 pm, which is really, really soon, so you’d better start making preparations for the long queue ahead on opening day and the weeks to come.
Premium Pancakes
They’ll definitely be selling their original speciality, the greatly anticipated fluffy Premium Pancakes, at this cafe – the ones that caught attention from foodies worldwide for its unique bounciness.
Slow-cooked on low heat and whipped full of air, the souffle pancakes have been described by many to be as fluffy and soft as clouds or cotton candy.
The Premium Pancakes are served in stacks of three, each 4cm tall, and garnished with the cafe’s special handmade butter, sweet maple syrup, and soft cream that they pride themselves for.
Sounds like a dream…
But There’s A Catch
However, it’s not going to be easy to get your hands on these babies, just as with every good thing that comes along.
The pancakes are specially prepared only upon receipt of order and only will be available at three timeslots a day – 11 am, 3 pm and 6 pm.
With every time slot, only 30 servings will be sold, and each person is only allowed to purchase one serving. This means that there are only 90 servings of Premium Pancake in one day.
Each serving goes for $17.90.
Talk about exclusivity, but I guess sacrifices have to be made to get what you love. Now the queues are going to be even longer.
There Are Other Pancakes Too
Lest you don’t wish to fight to the death with other pancake enthusiasts who will all be camping out to secure a spot in the 30 servings per time slot, and would rather wait for the queues to shorten eventually (ahem when will Shake Shack’s queue die out already), there are other equally delicious pancake specialities that the cafe has to offer.
Other classic thin pancake specialities include the Rich Tiramisu Pancakes, going at $15.90 per serving, which includes espresso-soaked pancakes dusted in cocoa powder, sandwiching thick layers of mascarpone tiramisu cream.
There’s also a Mixed Fruits & Chocolate Pancakes that go for $15.90 and some Caramelised Banana Pancakes at $13.90, for those of you who like your pancakes to be healthier with some fruits.
They’re Not Just Sweet Ones
You can even have your meals here and not just dessert, for savoury pancakes are also on Gram Cafe & Pancakes’ extensive menu.
As weird as it may sound, there’s going to be a Chilli Beans Pancake at $18.90, thin pancakes topped with cheddar cheese and chilli beans sauce, served with sausage, potatoes and a side salad. The pancakes basically replace the hotdog bun in a regular hotdog. Interesting.
They also offer Salmon and Avocado Pancakes at $18.90, comprising of wild smoked salmon and fresh avocados atop thin pancakes and an accompanying salad.
You’re also free to laden all your pancakes with additional toppings of sauces or fruits if you want as well, there being 16 toppings for you to choose from.
BLTs and French Toast Available Too
Yep, if you’re not a fan of pancakes but was dragged here by your girlfriend or family members, there are options including sandwiches and french toasts as well.
Besides the classic BLT Sandwich going for $14.90, the cafe sells three different types of french toasts – the classic Gram French Toast at $12.90, French Toast of Chocolate Banana at $15.90, and lastly the fruity Mixed Berry French Toast at $15.90 as well.
Even Japanese Curry Pancakes?
There’s recently been a lot of different variations of the way traditional Japanese curry is served, from white to soup curry, accompanying rice or udon, but Gram Cafe & Pancakes are here to bring yet another unique Japanese curry dish to the table – Japanese Curry Pancakes! Yum.
It’s specially designed just for Singaporeans, too. Sadly, the item isn’t available just yet and it will take some time until the dish is premiered. This is what we call a real test of patience.
Pancakes On-The-Go
Soon enough, a takeaway option for their signature Premium Pancakes will be available as well, titled the Premium To Go set – comprising of a full box of smaller pancakes with fresh cream sandwiched in between two pancakes.
You can also stop by for desserts such as Strawberry Crepe Pancakes at $8.90, Premium Parfait at $10.90 or Premium Tiramisu at $9.90 in a cup if you’re in a rush or just want to complete your shopping.
Don’t be surprised to see many plates being shaken for the purpose of Instagram videos and Boomerangs in the cafe, including your own, perhaps – just make sure not to drop any of that fluffy goodness.
Good luck to all pancake connoisseurs in battling the long queues!
