Food Deliveryman Assaulted Security Guard Coz’ Guard Told Him He Did Not Park His Motorcycle Properly

“Hey, you didn’t park your vehicle in the right spot”.

Now, if a security guard tells you the information above, there are normally two ways in which you’d react:

  1. You’d say “Oh, sorry, I didn’t know! I’ll park at the correct spot next time.”
  2. You’d say “Oh, sorry, I didn’t know! I’ll park at the correct spot next time.”

Yes, there’s really only one rational response here.

Normally, such an innocuous statement wouldn’t make you boil with rage, but for one 27-year-old, it made him angry enough to physically assault the security guard.

Food Deliveryman Assaulted Security Guard Coz’ Guard Told Him He Did Not Park His Motorcycle Properly

On 13 Dec last year, Muhammad Nerrohman Abu Bakar, a food delivery rider, received two orders that were to be sent to The Waterina condo.

The 27-year-old collected both orders and headed to the condo in Geylang.

When he reached the condo, he was told to park his bike at basement 2 of the car park, in accordance with the condominium’s management rules.

But he ended up parking his vehicle along a lift lobby entrance at basement 1 because he was in a rush.

A 44-year-old security officer at the condo who had seen this on a CCTV camera headed to the basement to inform Nerrohman, but the rider had already gone up to make his delivery.

When Nerrohman returned, the security guard simply told him that he had parked his motorcycle at the wrong place.

This angered Nerrohman, and an argument ensued. Then, the rider approached the security guard and started punching and kicking him.

The 44-year-old victim did not retaliate physically, and only tried to fend off the assault, which lasted about seven seconds.

Fortunately, for the victim, the attack was captured on CCTV.

The security guard called the police once the rider left the condo.

Jailed For One Week

Yesterday (27 May), the 27-year-old was jailed for a week after pleading guilty to one count of voluntarily causing hurt.

He claimed that the guard had pointed at the CCTV camera and provoked Nerrohman by saying “come and beat me”, adding that the guard started the argument and had shouted at him and talked “very rudely”.

While the prosecutor acknowledged there was a dispute, she said the act was “wholly disproportionate and uncalled for”.

For voluntarily causing hurt, Nerrohman could have been imprisoned for up to two years, fined up to S$5,000, or both.
