The drama’s producers teased, “Usually when cold air meets hot air, it rains. Please wait and see if it will rain or if an unexpected natural disaster will occur when Jin Ha Kyung and Lee Si Woo, who are polar opposites, meet for the first time.

“Their romance at the Korea Meteorological Administration, which people were curious about, will not betray viewers’ expectations.” We’re counting on you producer-nim.

New Concept

While we might be in for a sunbae-hoobae relationship and a few other familiar K-Drama tropes, something new is being featured in this drama – weather and forecasting.

Never has a K-Drama centred its plot around the concept of weather, so this is the first time viewers will get to see what life is like at Korea’s national weather forecast service.

In fact, even the cast themselves found it interesting!

What the Cast Thought of the Show

Park Min Young said, “I’d never seen a drama that focused on the details of the weather forecast service, so the script felt fresh.”

However, she encountered difficulties while filming this novel concept especially with terminology and pattern of speech.

She said, “It was fun, but really tough. As I did my homework, I felt proud of myself. Now I don’t get irritated when I watch the weather forecast.” Hwaiting!

Song Kang said, “The concept of the weather felt fresh to me. There were times when I found myself smiling as I read the script. The transparent and clumsy character was just right for me. I tried to make him as bright as possible. The lines were hard, so I watched a lot of documentaries.”

Indeed, a lot of hard work was put in by the main leads to understand their characters.

Regarding his appearance, Song Kang remarked, “I cut my hair short and I look a little dumb.” Well, we know whatever hairstyle he dons, he will still pull it off.

Months of Behind The Scenes Work

It was no easy feat coming up with this new concept.

While the actors put in their fair share of work to play the characters well, the producers also spent months understanding how the real-life Korea Meteorological Administration works.

To prepare, JTBC derived details for the drama by consulting with and seeking advice from real-life associate spokespersons, forecasters, and weathermen for six months.

Writer Sun Young spent two months working overtime with forecasters, making note of the smallest details to use as the foundation of the script.

In addition to these efforts, the crew also filmed at a national typhoon center in Seogwipo to capture a detailed video of a typhoon.

Even in the drama’s short teaser and highlight clips, the forecasting details are clear and raise anticipation for the incredibly realistic drama.
