Foreign workers in Singapore have had hard lives.
They built our homes, paved our roads and cleaned our housing estates but despite all that, some Singaporeans shun them.
And they’ve gotten used to being of a lower class.

What will you do if there’s an empty seat beside you, yet an aunty refused to sit down and waited till you leave instead?
Glare at her? Ask loudly if she has a problem with you? Or simply vacate your seat.
Here’s what this foreign worker allegedly did.
Lady Shared About MRT Incident
On 17 July 2019, a lady, Regina Yqh, shared about her experience on Facebook.
An Indian man, who she presumed to be a construction worker, was seated opposite her.

Later, an elderly Chinese “aunty” boarded the train.
There was an empty seat beside the man but the aunty looked “reluctant” to sit down. Instead, she settled for giving him the look.
Regina interpreted the look to say:Â Stand up so I can sit, thank you.

So the man stood up and let the aunty sit.
End of story, right? Nope.
Cannot Take It Anymore
After the man stood up, the aunty, instead of being thankful, looked at him like he “did something wrong”.
And I, being a proud NSF, knows that feeling completely.
After seeing the aunty’s behaviour, Regina couldn’t take it anymore.

She stood up and offered to change her seat with him.
Treat Others As How You Want To Be Treated
Regina ended off her post with a heartfelt plea.
She asked why a paying customer should be treated this way when “we are all paying transport fare”.
She asked for people who read the post to share the message with the world and make this “stressful world a better place”.
“Be it a construction worker or whatsoever, they don’t rob.”
