You probably didn’t, but it appears that local sellers’ businesses have taken a hit by these foreigners.

Foreigners Allegedly Sell Tissue Paper At Bedok Hawker Centre, Affecting Local Tissue Paper Sellers
A group of suspected foreign women have been selling tissue papers at Bedok Block 216 Hawker Centre, sparking mixed reactions from diners.
It all started when a Facebook user posted about three women, believed to be from China, approaching diners at the hawker centre to sell tissue papers, in the Facebook group Complaint Singapore.
The user claimed they were there “daily” and were from China.
8world News then visited the location and spotted one of these women. She appeared to be in her 60s, with tanned skin, wearing a checkered top.
She carried a black sling bag and a green tote bag filled with tissue papers.
According to 8World News, the woman moved through the morning crowd at the hawker centre, approaching diners with tissue papers in hand. She would bow slightly with clasped hands, sometimes with tears in her eyes, quietly saying “please help” in a trembling voice.
While some diners declined with a shake of their heads, others gave her $1 or $2.
The woman often persisted with her requests even after initial rejections.

8World News also managed to speak to a licensed tissue paper seller.
The wheelchair-bound licensed vendor, who suffered a stroke, has been selling tissue papers at the hawker centre for years. She claimed that those women come daily and affected her business significantly.
She also added that these women also sell tissues at Old Airport Road Hawker Centre and nearby coffee shops.
Several stallholders confirmed seeing these women at other food centres in the vicinity.
Singapore law prohibits foreign nationals from selling items in public spaces without proper work permits. Such activities could be considered unauthorized commercial activities or illegal begging.
