In the vast Internet, there are many things one can do or watch for entertainment.
Like watching movies and K-dramas on Netflix or cute cat videos on YouTube.

However, some prefer to make their own videos to keep for memories’ sake, from innocent ones like your baby boy’s first birthday party to unacceptable ones like upskirt videos.
Former Teacher Pleaded Guilty
Daniel Chen Jun Yi, 29, admitted to the two charges of insulting a woman’s modesty and two additional charges made against him on Wednesday, 19 July.
The former teacher had taken upskirt videos of several women between November 2017 and September 2019, which is quite a long period of time.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) confirmed that Chen was no longer a teacher as of January 2019, but it is unclear as to which school he taught at or what subject he taught.
Even Targetted A 17-Year-Old
Chen was visiting his girlfriend’s house one fine day on 11 Jan 2018, when he noticed two girls at the void deck in school uniform, one of which was the 17-year-old, and the other her sister.
Immediately feeling an attraction to the girl, he stood behind them in the lift and pressed the button for the highest floor (21).
His girlfriend lived on the fourth floor, according to Deputy Public Prosecutor Kathy Chu.
Chen then proceeded to start recording a video and bent down to place it under the victim’s skirt to film her, not once, but twice.

Luckily, the victim’s sister caught on to Chen’s shady behaviour from the corner of her eye and turned around to look at what he was doing, to which he responded by withdrawing his phone.
After the sisters got off on the ninth floor, Chen proceeded to the 21st floor to watch the video alone before heading to his girlfriend’s house.
A police report was made by the victim’s sister later that night, describing a man with “very thick eyebrows” who had taken upskirt videos of them.
Through footage from the lift’s police surveillance camera, Chen was identified and arrested a week later but had already deleted the video clips by the time his handphone was confiscated.
You’d have thought getting arrested was the end of his escapades, but…

He Did It Again With Another 17-Year-Old
Chen was out shopping with his girlfriend on 25 Sep 2019 when he struck again.
As his girlfriend was shopping and browsing through the store, Chen walked around as every bored boyfriend does, and happened to notice that the female employees in the store all wore short skirts or dresses.
There was a 17-year-old amongst them, and he approached her, filming another upskirt video.
She noticed that he was standing very close to her and felt extremely uncomfortable and scared.
Chen then went on to film more videos, on the same girl and another victim, before he decided to find his girlfriend again and left the store.

That very same day, the 17-year-old lodged a police report and he was captured on the store’s CCTV cameras.
He was subsequently arrested on 30 Sep last year, with both his laptop and phone confiscated.
The upskirt videos which he recorded on that day were still on his phone this time.
MOE Has Responded
On 2 Sep this year, almost a year after he was arrested for the second incident, Chen will return to court for sentencing.
If convicted, he could be jailed for up to a year, fined, or both, for each count of insulting a woman’s modesty.
Speaking to media, MOE also mentioned that they will not stand for any staff misconduct.

They will not hesitate to take action towards those who do not adhere to their behavioural and disciplinary standards.
Here’s hoping that him, and anyone who feels it’s okay to do such things, will get their just desserts.
