Due to the pesky coronavirus, Instagrammers can no longer post pictures of their airplane tickets and vacations, something which was their sole reason for travelling 80% of the time.
In fact, during the circuit breaker, the only thing you could share on Instagram was your face, a boring trip to the supermarket, or how many push-ups you could do: things people don’t really care about.
Fortunately, you can now head to a museum to take pictures with an oversized robot cat.
And if that doesn’t get you lots of likes, what will?
Free Admission to Doraemon’s Time Travelling Adventure in National Museum of S’pore
This just in: Doraemon is coming to town.
Several Doraemon figures will be on display at the National Museum of Singapore as part of an exhibition called “Doraemon’s Time-Travelling Adventures In Singapore”.
The event has been in the works for a year and a half, and was even in danger of being cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 31 Oct till 27 Dec, and is free for Singaporeans and permanent residents.
Those interested can visit the museum between 10am and 7pm. The last admission is at 6:30pm.
So, what can attendees of the exhibition do?
Photos For The Gram
As previously mentioned, there will be a line of Doraemon figures across the museum’s front lawn.
But there will also be booths scattered throughout the building for attendees to take selfies with the adorable cat robot.
Gadgets of the Past & Future
For those who don’t know, the story of Doraemon revolves around a robot cat who travels back in time from the 22nd century to aid a boy named Nobita Nobi.
Doraemon has a four-dimensional pouch which contains numerous futuristic gadgets, and this is something the museum is trying to replicate.
In the past, Singapore, too, sold and even produced household and personal gadgets that boasted futuristic designs and features.
Some of these were used in the past, and others were ahead of their time and are still fascinating today.
Like this thingy that people whose NRIC number start with T would think that is a helmet in the 80s.
Attendees will be able to view the museum’s collections which date from the 1960s through to the 1980s.
Interactive Trail
There will also be an interactive trail online, called Let’s Jalan-Jalan!, where attendees can learn fun facts about Singapore’s neighbourhoods through an online islandwide scavenger hunt.
Explorers will also stand a chance to win exclusive NMS Doraemon Singapore-themed collectables which were specially designed by Supermama and based on iconic objects that were commonly used in many Singaporean homes from the 1970s to the 1990s.
Redesigning Artefacts
You can also try your hand at redesigning real artefacts displayed at the National Museum of Singapore!
All you have to do is download your favourite template, then draw and colour to upgrade and redesign the artefact.
If you’re looking for a fun day out with the family, or even some likes on Instagram, then this is the event for you.
