Fancy a taste of Japan without having to leave the shores of Singapore?
Well, it appears that Gardens By the Bay has stepped up to the plate to appease our palate despite these pandemic-struck times.
According to MustShareNews, the urban nature park will be hosting its annual Sakura Matsuri event this March.
Featuring all your favourite mementos from Japan, including entire Sakura displays, realistic sculptures of Japanese red-crowned cranes and even Hello Kitty!
Gardens By the Bay Having Both Sakura & Hello Kitty Display from 1 March
According to the report, the flower dome at GBTB is all set to transform into a mini Japan from 1 March.
Apart from conventional torii gates that emulate the feel of pseudo-Japan shrines, you will also be able to witness beautiful cherry blossoms and peach blossoms in all their glory.
Japanese red-crowned cranes will also cameo in the flower fields, though sadly they are not authentic. Instead, they will be stationary sculptures that purportedly look rather realistic.
For fans of Hello Kitty, you will be stoked to know that the ever-iconic Japanese cartoon cat is gracing the event as well!
Stroll alongside the usually 2D cat as you break out your most eye-catching poses for that one-in-a-million Instagram shot.
To cap things off, there will be a live performance of nodate – an outdoor tea ceremony – and a feature on furoshiki – deemed as the Japanese art of fabric wrapping.
All in all, a very pleasant-sounding experience… and you don’t even have to pay for an air ticket.
“What about the entrance ticket?” you wonder.
Well, you do have to pay for that one, but it’s not that bad. More on that later.
And So… What Else?
With all the features done and dusted, what’s left are just the little intricacies…
Pretty important intricacies, if I may say so.
As such, here are the details of the event:
