I don’t need a lot of words to describe how awesome Gerry Alanguilan was. The fact of the matter is, you probably recognised him the moment you saw his photo.
Yeap, he’s just one of those people.
I mean think about it, he posted a video of him simply making a facial expression and it hit almost 7 million views on YouTube.
Now I don’t know about you, but I think it takes mad skills to accomplish that. He also calls his expression the “Hey, Baby!” Smile.
Later, he posted a tutorial on how to achieve the sought after “Hey, Baby!” Smile. This video garnered a whopping 360,000 views on YouTube.
But beyond his YouTube channel, he is also a very well known comic book artist.
Unfortunately, the man in question has passed away at age 51.
Gerry Alanguilan, Famous Guy Who Posted ‘Hey Baby’ Videos Online Dies At Age 51
His wife, Ilyn Alanguilan broke the heartbreaking news on Facebook, much to the dismay of fans everywhere, including Marvel Comics’ editor-in-chief C.B Cebulski who posted a tweet paying tribute to the star.
Saddened to learn of the passing of Gerry Alanguilan. Another wonderful person taken from us too soon. An amazingly talented writer and inker, mentor to younger artists, and advocate for global comics, the comics world and Filipino art community lost a friend and hero today.

The details surrounding Alanguilan’s death remain unknown and not much information has been revealed about it.
However, a tweet posted on 20 December, which was his final tweet suggested that he was in grave pain.
oh my God this pain

Our heart goes out to his family and we hope that he rests in peace. If anything, at least his pain has been alleviated.
He will not be forgotten and has definitely left his mark on this world by making millions of people from all over the globe smile with his videos.
