There’s a mysterious new disease spreading around the world that is baffling scientists and medical workers.

Otherwise mentally and physically healthy individuals have started losing the ability the understand the phrase “stay at home” in their mother tongue and can’t physically keep themselves indoors.

Curiously, this disease only seems to affect inconsiderate people.

No cure or vaccine has been developed as of yet, but one man has a scary solution that might just work.

Man Dressed Up As Ghost to Scare His Neighbours to Stay at Home in M’sia

The whole of Malaysia is under lockdown, and while everyone has gotten the memo, some citizens can’t seem to follow the new rules.

According to World of Buzz, the compliance rate for the Movement Control Order (MCO) is currently at 95%.

Tired of this indifference to the MCO,  one man in Taman Anika Jaya, Terengganu took it upon himself to compel these people into staying indoors.

And he didn’t have to use physical force or verbal threats. Instead, he used a language that everyone could understand: fear.

He dressed up as a ghost in white sheets to spook his errant neighbours (who are mostly youngsters) into staying at home.

I don’t even believe in ghosts, but if I saw such a creature outside my house you can bet your recently-purchased deluxe pack of toilet paper that I’ll stay inside.

The man, Muhammad Urabil Alias, said the authorities had been patrolling his housing area since the implementation of the MCO, but some stubborn residents have continued to leave their homes.

So, he decided to post these pictures on Facebook, hoping it would scare his neighbours into obeying the MCO.

The post has garnered over 3,500 shares and a thousand likes.

Surprisingly, this scare tactic seems to have worked.

“After I uploaded the photos on FB, they panicked and were scared to come out,” Urabil said via Harian Metro.

Though one could argue that he himself disobeyed the MCO to go outside, no?

What’s amusing is that Urabil had to apologise to some netizens who came across his post because they actually thought the photos were authentic.

“From my status itself you can see I was not serious but they still think the photos are real.” Urabil stated. He later apologised to those who thought he took things too far.

To be honest, the only scary thing here is how so many people are taking the Covid-19 pandemic lightly.

New Covid-19 measures in Malaysia

Malaysia, despite enforcing drastic measures such as the MCO and the closure of their borders, schools, and most businesses, continues to see a sharp rise in coronavirus cases.

The country reported an additional 1000 new cases in the last week, bringing their total to 2,626.

37 people have died from the disease so far.

This is why the Malaysian authorities are introducing new enhanced measures for the second phase of the MCO from 1 Apr until 14 Apr.

These include limiting operating hours for supermarkets, grocery shops, convenience stores restaurants, and petrol stations between 8am and 8pm.

Moreover, the price of face masks being sold will also be reduced from RM2 to RM1.50 to make them affordable for residents.

Malaysia recently extended its lockdown until 14 Apr to try and contain the spread of Covid-19, but only time will tell if these drastic measures will work.

Uh, maybe more ghosts will crop up across Malaysia and they’ll be the ones to save the country and eventually the world from Covid-19?
