A nine-year-old girl died at a private hospital in Melaka, Malaysia, on 23 Jun 2025, after allegedly suffering months of physical abuse from her biological mother and stepfather.
Disabled Child Found Unconscious with Severe Injuries at Melaka Hospital
The child was brought in while unconscious to the emergency ward by her stepfather, who works as a restaurant assistant. She was unresponsive upon arrival, with multiple severe injuries across her body.
Medical personnel promptly raised the alarm after identifying signs of extensive physical abuse. Doctors found a fractured leg, along with bruises on her head, limbs, and torso. The injuries appeared consistent with prolonged assault.
The girl was pronounced dead at 9:45am in the hospital’s emergency ward. Despite medical efforts to save her life, she could not be revived.
The victim was the second child among three siblings and had a physical disability that prevented her from walking. She was unable to move independently due to her condition.
Parents Remanded for Seven Days Under Murder Investigation
Melaka Central District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit confirmed that police received a report about the girl’s death at 10:15am on the same morning.
The girl’s mother, aged 36, and stepfather, aged 38, have been remanded for seven days to assist with investigations. Magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleiman granted the remand order at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate’s Court on 24 Jun 2025.
Both parents arrived at the court compound in a police vehicle, wearing orange lock-up attire. Their detention will last until 30 Jun 2025.
Police are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Preliminary investigations revealed that the child had allegedly been repeatedly beaten at home by both parents before being rushed to hospital.
