It’s 2021 and, no matter who you are, you’ll have to move with the times.
This goes especially true for celebrities, even A-listers.
South Korean actress, Lee Siyoung took to TikTok like a fish in water, amassing millions of fans and views:
@leesiyoung38고마워 자기야♬ Hello – OMFG
Running Man Jee Seok-jin, similarly, took to TikTok as well despite his age and became the TikTok Grandpa of South Korea:
@jeeseokjin@Hoàng Always 🤪 님과 ##이어찍기 이게 진짜 된다고? ##jeeseokjin ##지석진 ##fyp ##우쥬록스♬ 오리지널 사운드 – 지석진
Well, it seems that, just like them, another South Korean actor is finally getting onto the digital game.
Granted, it’s Instagram but like my mother always says, baby steps, boy, baby steps.
Gong Yoo Finally Has an Instagram Account
For long-time fans of Gong Yoo, you might know him as the Goblin or the male lead in Train to Busan.
For recent fans, you’ll know him better as the Squid Game recruiter.
The seasoned actor is celebrating his twentieth year in the show industry in the best way possible—by opening his first social media account.
If you’ve always wanted a glimpse into the daily life of this handsome actor, now’s your chance to do so.
According to his agency, the Instagram account will feature Gong Yoo’s daily life:
“We opened an official Instagram account to convey the daily life of the actor Gong Yoo to all his fans.”
In other words, fan service.
The actor has no other social media account, and the Instagram account will be managed by the agency.
His First Post is a Squid
Gong Yoo’s first post is of a delicious, barbequed squid, likely due to his cameo Squid Game, which got so popular it created a craze worldwide.

This post reached a whopping 985k likes (that’s almost a million, people) and over 36k comments.
Now, if you’ve ever doubted the star power of Gong Yoo, his Instagram account will shut naysayers up.
His agency released news of Gong Yoo’s Instagram account on 1 Dec 2021.
Within the span of a single day, his account has 1.5 million followers.
Why Gong Yoo Didn’t Do Instagram
Back in 2017, Gong Yoo had revealed why he did not get onto Instagram in a press conference.
For one, he does not like taking selfies and would prefer to look at the sights instead of taking photos.
And two, he finds that it’s to show off to people, making parts of it non-genuine.
