When Fancl closed all its outlets in Singapore two years ago, die-hard Fancl fans were disappointed. After all, many of them have been using Fancl products for years, and they would have to resort to buying online (and wondering whether they are authentic) or simply get their friends to get the products from overseas.
Just like other skincare brands, Fancl has built a considerable number of followers after it started operations in 2000. The closure in 2014 was attributed to continued losses. According to the press release then, they had intended to re-enter the market as a wholesaler after April 2014.
So, fast forward to 2016: it is now reopened, and for a start, has a counter on the ground floor of Isetan Scotts.
Prior to this, Fancl in Singapore was managed by its Japanese office. However, the reopened Fancl will now be managed by a Singapore company, Fantastic Natural Cosmetics (Singapore). The managing director of the company said that this time, they would be in Singapore “forever”. He added, “This time, we hope to do better, through various avenues like outdoor advertising, newspaper advertisements, our in-house magazine and through social media.”
Its Facebook Page, FANCL Singapore, is now active as well, with them replying to numerous enquiries from customers promptly. In fact, in one comment, one customer asks in Chinese and they replied in Chinese! How cool can that be?
True to their word to engage customers, they also have an app, iFANCL SG, that can be used to accumulate gift points.
As an opening promotion, customers who spend $100 can get $20 discount, while those who spend $250 can get $50 discount. That’s about 20% off! This promotion is valid from now until 30 April 2016.
So, if you’re a FANCL fan and have been waiting for their return, remember to make your way to Isetan Scotts this weekend!
