If you can’t get enough of Descendants of the Sun, and think that there should be 1,600 episodes instead of 16 episodes, this news should be comforting to you.

The final episode of the insanely popular drama is set to be on 14 April 2016. At the moment of writing, the 11th episode has been aired and the ratings are still as strong as usual, garnering 29.1% in its nationwide TNmS Ratings, the second highest in its run so far.

On 29 March 2016, KBS, the television network carrying and distributing the show, issued a statement, announcing that one week after the season finale, there will be three special episodes: on 20 April 2016, 21 April 2016 and 22 April 2016.

The first two special episodes, running at 70 minutes each (which means it’s 20 minutes longer), would be highlight reels.

The last special episode would be interesting, though: it comprises behind-the-scene footages, and most importantly, an epilogue. For the uninitiated, an epilogue is sort of like the conclusion of the drama, and it’s unknown whether it would be part of the story or simply an interview or speech by someone.

Nevertheless, for die-hard fans of Descendants of the Sun, at least they’ll know the world doesn’t come to an end on 14 April 2016. It ends on 22 April 2016.

*Do note that the dates are for the Korean version. For Singapore and Malaysia viewers who would like to watch it via Viu with English subtitles, please add one more day to the date, as they’ll only release the English subtitled version eight hours after it has aired on South Korea
