Durians are the king of fruits, and rightly so.
People once said that if you’re not being hated or liked right now, it means you’re not doing anything impactful.
And nobody.
Nobody.
Nobody has a mixed opinion on Durian. You’ll either love him or hate him.
Okay, now that we’ve established the rightful place of durian as the one and only king, here’s what durian lovers have to know.
Remember the Durian McFlurry that drove Malaysians ga-ga, and Singaporeans envious AF?
Yup. Durian. Plus Ice Cream.
That’s like a combination greater than Christopher Lee and Fann Wong in the Return of the Condor Heroes.
And in 2017, Singaporeans be like, take back the Nasi Lemak burger. I want Durian McFlurry instead, thanks.
And to show how powderful this ice cream combination is, the Nasi Lemak Burger took two weeks to fully sell out.
The Durian McFlurry took a mere one week to go out of stock.
And with images like this…
Can you blame them?
Well, guess what? Our days of being envious AF are over
Why? Because something’s coming to Singapore’s McDonald’s.
It starts with D and ends with Y. Three words long. And it’s made with real D too.
Yup. finally.
Finally.
The D24 Durian McFlurry with real durian flesh is coming to Singapore from 5 July onwards islandwide.
A year too late, but it’s okay. Better late than never, no?
Just don’t get too caught up with the made with real durian flesh tag
Because according to disappointed Malaysians and Singaporeans who braved the causeway to try last year, it was just durian syrup.
But this guy got it right though.
Cendol McFlurry is amazing.
Speaking about Cendol…
No, McDonald’s isn’t bringing it (and Nasi Lemak Burger) back.
But somebody else is.
Remember 7-Eleven Mr Softee? You know, that soft-serve that Singaporean kids went crazy over before McDonald’s started selling their soft serve ice cream.
Back in Jan 2018, news that Mr Softee was back in Singapore broke internet headlines.
And the celebrations (in the office) that followed after, felt like Singapore entered the World Cup and won the title.
We might, in 30 years time. Maybe. Probably.
The catch? It was only in selected stores. The one at Blk 689B CCK Drive and Blk 152A Gansa Road, to be exact.
Then, somebody found this.Â
On 30 Jun 2018, Twitter user Xavier Lur uploaded pictures of his latest find in Singapore.
Yup, you saw it right.
It’s Mr Softee. And it’s not just any Mr Softee.
It’s the iconic Mr Softee Cendol Soft Serve. Yes, the same one that accompanied our childhood for the 80s and 90s kids.
The only difference between this and the ones we had before, is the size. But, then again, $1.50 for a trip down memory lane? Sign me up for it right now.
He bought his cup of cendol Mr Softee at the 7-Eleven near ibis hotel at Bencoolen and mentioned that it’s only available at selected stalls.
Guess it’s time to go to your nearest 7-Eleven and try your luck, eh?
Now you know what Singaporeans are talking about today; do check back tomorrow for another piece of news of the day!
