On October 4, it was announced that Google will be having its very own smartphone, Pixel, which features specs that are similar to, if not better than the devices from Apple and Samsung. This will also be the first smartphone made by Google, inside and out.
The advancements in Pixel is also part of Google’s strategy to bring artificial intelligence to a range of new devices – showing the world that they are finally serious about hardware after their stint of purchasing Motorola and selling it out 3 years later.
Here’s what you need to know about Pixel.
1. The hardware just gets better
The new phone will come with a new “home assistant,” virtual reality headset named Daydream and Wi-Fi router system.
2. You can use it with their Daydream virtual reality headset
The headset can be slipped into the compatible smartphones and they can serve as screens for virtual reality experiences.
3. The prices are pretty similar to that of iPhone’s
Pixel will be available in both 5 and 5.5-inch display and prices will be starting at US$649 (S$890) for US customers.
4. There will be 3 colours available
Blue, black and silver.
5. Everything is made by Google, inside and out
From the hardware to the Andriod software, Google has a part to play in everything to make sure that only the best is delivered to their customers.
6. You will have unlimited photos and videos storage
Pixel will be made compatible to DayDream, which is a virtual reality platform and it will also have unlimited photos and video storage. You won’t have to worry about your phone running out of storage space!
7. Their photo functions are even better than that of iOS7’s
Pixel will have a smartphone feature which will help users choose images from a stream and a program to make it easy for users to switch operating systems.
8. There are no signs of its availability in the Singapore market yet
But hey, if you have friends staying in the US, Australia, Canada, Germany, Britain or visiting these countries anytime soon, you can just ask them to purchase it for you!
