Grab unveiled a suite of innovative features at its inaugural GrabX product showcase on 8 April 2025, introducing solutions aimed at solo diners, families with teenagers, and travellers.

The new offerings leverage AI technology to address everyday challenges faced by users across Southeast Asia.

The Singapore-based super app announced these additions as part of its โ€œFor Every Youโ€ campaign, recognising that users have different needs throughout their day.

โ€œAs Southeast Asians shift more and more to digital solutions for daily needs, we want to expand Grabโ€™s relevance to their everyday lives,โ€ said Anthony Tan, Group CEO and Co-founder of Grab during the event.

GrabFood for One: Solo Dining Made Affordable

Solo diners often face minimum order requirements and high delivery fees when ordering food. Grabโ€™s solution? GrabFood for One.

This feature eliminates minimum spend requirements and offers a fixed, low delivery fee for individual meals.

The service works by batching orders together, similar to the Saver delivery option, which extends delivery times but reduces costs.

โ€œGrabFood for One makes food delivery more accessible โ€“ and simpler! โ€“ for solo dining by offering affordable meals with no minimum spend, at a fixed low delivery fee,โ€ Grab stated in its announcement.

The service is already available in six markets: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Shared Saver: Join Strangersโ€™ Orders to Save Costs

Ever craved a bubble tea but felt the delivery fee wasnโ€™t worth it for just one item? Shared Saver addresses this common dilemma.

This feature allows users to join ongoing food orders from nearby strangers, functioning like a group order but with people you donโ€™t know.

Grabโ€™s AI detects when multiple orders for the same merchant are placed in close proximity and can initiate a Shared Saver order.

Singapore residents can try this feature first, as Grab began piloting Shared Saver in the country this month, with plans to expand to other cities by June 2025.

Grab For Family: Safe Transportation for Teenagers

Parents concerned about their teenagersโ€™ transportation now have a dedicated solution.

Grab For Family connects teen accounts (ages 13 to 17) to family accounts, allowing either parents or teens to book rides with enhanced safety features.

These safety measures include:

  • Priority assignment to top-rated drivers with proven track records

  • Ride PIN verification to ensure teens enter the correct vehicle

  • Always-on AudioProtect that uses AI to detect dangers in real-time

  • Trip monitoring for parents to track their teenโ€™s journey from start to finish

The feature is expected to roll out for Southeast Asian users in May, with the Singapore launch planned for mid-2025, pending regulatory approval.

Advance Booking (Airport Pickup): Smart Flight Tracking

Grabโ€™s new airport pickup service adjusts to flight statuses in real time, making post-flight transportation more reliable.

The system tracks flights and automatically adjusts driver schedules to account for early arrivals or delays. This ensures travellers have transportation waiting when they land, regardless of schedule changes.

Currently, the service operates at seven airports across the region, including Seletar Airport in Singapore, with plans to expand to more major cities soon.

Dine Out Discovery: AI-Powered Restaurant Recommendations

Finding the perfect restaurant just got easier with Dine Out Discovery, powered by GrabMaps.

Users can search and filter dining options by cuisine, food preferences, popularity, ratings, price, and even walking distance. The feature displays restaurant details including menus, opening hours, photos, user reviews, and available deals.

The service also allows users to make table reservations directly through the app and book rides to the restaurant.

Dine Out Discovery will be available across all Grab markets by May, with the reservation feature launching first in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand.

AI Tools for Merchants and Drivers

Beyond consumer features, Grab introduced AI solutions for its merchant and driver partners.

The AI Merchant Assistant provides personalised business recommendations, helping merchants create promo codes, ad campaigns, and menu updates.

For drivers, the AI Driver Companion includes ride guidance features that direct them to high-demand areas and an AI-assisted Voice Reporting tool.
