By now, we are probably already tired of PMDs. In the past week, there was even Singapore’s first PMD fire death.
If somehow PMD accidents still excite you, or you have 12 minutes too much free time, then you can watch this very exciting clip of an Uncle arguing with a GrabFood rider.
12 minutes of almost nothing
The original video is posted by Mohamed Shamirrudan on Facebook, but to save you 12 minutes, they just pointed fingers while random passers-by were pulled in, and they decide to call the police. This happened on a Saturday evening at Bishan Park, 20 July 2019.
Or if you want to armchair detective this, here’s what happened in the video:
Uncle and Shamirrudan (rider) disagreeing with each other. What happened before the video is unclear.
Uncle appears to think Shamirrudan as going too fast, and stopped him. Rider thinks that Uncle pushed him and scolded his mother.
At the start, Uncle aggressively moves forward and accidentally pushes his wife to the ground.
Uncle’s wife walks away after getting up.
Passer-by with shades comes in to diffuse the argument.
All 3 agree to call the police.
Uncle appears to be unsure if it is e-scooter or e-bike but says there will be consequences since rider should be on the road.
Rider and passer-by explain that e-scooters are allowed. Passer-by says he doesn’t like e-scooters but it is the rule.
Rider calls his friend while waiting for the police to arrive.
Uncle starts recording rider.
A random lady and her kid is walking by and somehow gets pulled into the conversation for a brief while by the Uncle.
Rider’s friend then arrives, skidding right in front of Uncle, who started recording him and complaining about his speed. Uncle started calling the two riders gangsters.
The video ends after the police arrive.
Shamirrudan’s case
According to an interview with Stomp, Shamirrudan said there were no issues with the police except asking him to register his scooter with the LTA.
Apparently, this uncle had caused problems with other riders before too.
Shamirrudan was on his way to pick up an order. He started slowing down from afar, but the uncle tapped him on the right shoulder and said he was speeding.
Uncle started cursing his mother as he went off, so he came back to ask him what’s the issue. Shamirrudan claims the uncle took out his belt and swung at him, but the uncle’s wife stopped him.
Uncle’s wife told him to go away, but Shamirrudan stayed and started recording the video instead.
He isn’t pursuing the matter further.
Grab is aware of the matter and is investigating this incident.

So… when is the e-scooter lane coming?
As much as we like to eat popcorn and complain about people complaining about PMDs, none of us here can solve the real problem. Rather than dealing with the water leak, why not plug the hole? Talking about each and every one of these PMD incidents are only wasting time.
PMD usage sure as hell ain’t going down for practical reasons, and we need real spaces for e-scooters to ride on rather than assume they can somehow mix on the same pathways.
On a side note, to the random person who didn’t get their food delivered: we know the feeling when there’s no food.
If you watch at least 10 minutes of brain rot content daily, you must know this:
