GrabFood Rider & Passers-by Work Together To Rescue Poor Drenched Cat Stranded In Canal

Stray animals aren’t too common in Singapore.

From my experience, I only ever see the occasional stray cat now and then.

And you know the saying, curiosity killed the cat.

These little felines often wander around doing whatever they want, perhaps even landing themselves in trouble.

No thanks to the rainy season, either.

It’s then up to us to help these poor kitties whenever they’re in trouble.

Impromptu Rescue

Sometimes, we have to show these cats that we’re their servants friends.

Twitter user @navjeet_k documented in a tweet how a bunch of strangers worked together to save a stray cat.

She mentioned that she had been walking along a canal near Bedok Reservoir with her mother at around 12.30 pm on 12 December.

They soon came across a group of three or four passers-by gathered along the side of the canal and another girl who was in the canal.

As mentioned, rainy weather has been the norm for the last few days.

Upon closer inspection, the girl was actually trying to rescue a cat stuck down in the canal.

Nav mentioned that she had apparently climbed down from a ladder and heard from the other passers-by that they had called for help.

This is very brave and respectable but don’t try this on your own, kids.

It’s pretty dang dangerous.

Tag-Team Rescue

Luckily, the girl was not alone for too long.

A GrabFood delivery rider, who had just finished his deliveries, joined the rescue and went down the canal to help the girl.

The pair brought the cat up, all wrapped in a towel to prevent it from catching a cold.

Aww…

They even tried to make a temporary shelter for it from a cardboard box, in which the cat’s response was to run away from them.

I don’t blame it. Strangers can be terrifying after all.

As of this writing, Nav’s tweet has gotten over 1,960 likes and over 2,130 retweets.

Because who doesn’t rejoice when a kitty is saved?

Nav even tagged Grab in her post to notify them of the helpful employee, to which they responded that they will identify the person.

I hope the guy gets rewarded or at least commended for his good deed.

Kudos to everyone who helped out in the rescue, especially in a mildly dangerous condition like that!

It’s understandable though, if you want to help but are slightly afraid of the conditions.

You can call the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) at 62875355 if you ever see an animal in danger.

Got to save all the kitties.
