Boss: We need a novel product to attract more customers, guys. Any ideas?
Employee 1: What about slapping some Gucci logos on a regular eraser and charging customers $130?
Boss: It’s a brilliant idea, but we’ve already done that.
Employee 2: What about adding a bunch of robot cats to several products to attract a completely new demographic?
Boss: You want Gucci to add tiny pictures of robot cats to luxury fashion products?
Employee 2: Yes

Gucci X Doraemon Collection Available for Pre-Order; An Item Can Cost Up to S$7.6K
Gucci’s latest collaboration will certainly raise some eyebrows and delight fans of a certain Japanese manga series.
The luxury fashion brand has launched a new collection featuring our favourite robot cat, Doraemon.
The Doraemon x Gucci capsule collection was reportedly released to commemorate the 2021 Lunar New Year.
The collection has over 50 items, including jackets, pants, T-shirts, shoes, shorts, bags, and accessories.
All products, of course, will be monogrammed with their trademark GG pattern.
But you’re probably wondering: how are they going to tastefully add Doraemon to their products?
By slapping the blue robot cat all over them, of course.
Our favourite cat also strikes different poses for different products: on some items he’s holding his bulging tummy, and on others he stands like an obedient student at assembly.
And on one particular bag, the earless robot feline is jumping, lying down, sitting cross-legged, and even dancing.
So, how much do these products cost?
We should remember that this is Gucci, and while these items may look adorable, our wallets have to be abused to pay for them.
According to Esquire Middle East, prices for products in this collection range from US$160 to US$4,500.
Hypebeast reported that Gucci will also launch some thematic Pins and eventually a Year of the Ox-themed Doraemon disguise, followed by some China exclusives.
A collaboration between a manga series featuring a robot cat and a luxury fashion line may be odd, but it’s not the only collaboration of Gucci’s that has raised eyebrows.
Collab With Pokémon GO
In Dec 2020, Gucci announced it would be collaborating with the hugely-popular Pokémon GO franchise, as well as The North Face.
We’ve so far only gotten a teaser in one of their tweets, which shows a Pokémon GO logo marked on a flag on a pole, with a tent in the background featuring logos from Gucci and The North Face.

While we have no idea what a Pokémon GO x Gucci product will look like, if it’s anything like their Doraemon collection, people will surely go gaga over it.
