By now, it is probably already the norm to put on some weight during the Chinese New Year period. I mean, regardless of how aware we are about the sinful amount of calories hidden in each snack, who can resist eating all that fragrant bakkwa, buttery pineapple tarts, crispy egg rolls, melt-in-your-mouth kueh bangkit…
Reader: stop daydreaming, its almost as if I can see you drooling…
Well, if anyone has any ideas on how to stop these cravings, do let me know, or else the containers of CNY snacks at my coffee table will be empty by tomorrow, before the Chinese New Year even begins.
While I may not have a solution to that, there is another way we can relieve the guilt, of popping snacks into our mouths non-stop, during this period–exercise.
Here is a guide to the opening hours of exercise facilities all over Singapore during the CNY 2025 period.
ActiveSG Facilities
All ActiveSG facilities will be closed from 28 January (3pm) to 30 January.
Last entry to ActiveSG pools and gyms will be 2.30pm today (28 January), so if you want to get one last swim in before Chinese New Year, you may want to sprint there ASAP!
Anytime Fitness
As its name promises, even during this CNY period, all Anytime Fitness gyms will be open anytime, 24/7.
So, no more excuses to not hit the gym!
Gym Pod
For those who foresee their social battery draining to zero after a day of bainian, you’d be glad to know that The Gym Pod has your back, even during the CNY period.
It provides private gym pods 24/7, for you to carry out your workouts and hit those goals, without needing to interact with other gym users. These gym pods will continue to be available throughout the CNY period.
I will probably be booking one to exercise my sadness away, after being pried all day by relatives for reasons why I am not married yet.
Fitness First
For the gals who are willing to spend more on working out and have a Fitness First membership, inclusive of access to more atas equipment, premium facilities and better classes, these are the opening hours of its various outlets.
The opening hours for Fitness First may not be the most convenient for fellow gymbro readers celebrating Chinese New Year, but if there’s a will, there’s a way, right?
HomeTeamNS
HomeTeamNS is a non-profit organisation set up to recognise the invaluable contributions of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) NSmen to the safety and security of the nation.
More relevant to most of us, however, is the wide range of fun recreational activities we can participate in, at its three clubhouses at Bedok Reservoir, Bukit Batok and Khatib; these include Karaoke, exhilarating obstacle courses, and playgrounds.
Lucky for us, if visiting relatives ever becomes too boring, many of these facilities at the HomeTeamNS clubhouses will be open–the perfect place to have fun and bond with our friends and family, over something other than usual talk of marriage, jobs, and studies.

No More Excuses
With all these sports facilities available for you to use throughout the CNY period, there really is no more excuse for you to not move your body.
(To be honest, I can think of a few, but I won’t share them with you. As my mother likes to say, “It’s for your own good!”)
For the first time in years, you may be able to emerge from the Chinese New Year celebrations healthier; heavier too, perhaps, but because of all those muscle gains.
If you watch at least 10 minutes of brain rot content daily, you must know this:
