What do you do when you have too much privilege and no common sense?
Apparently, for this lady customer, she decided to cook up a massive shitstorm at a café all because she couldn’t even wait 5 minutes for her cup of coffee.
Cafe Owner Tells Customer “Please Don’t Visit Them Again” When Customer Makes a Scene After Waiting for 5 Minutes for Her Coffee
According to Lianhe WanBao, this incident happened on 31 March at the Habitat Coffee café on Upper Thomson Road.
The lady walked into the café, ordered a cup of joe, and sat down.
However, within just a few minutes of waiting, she suddenly shot up from her seat and rushed over to the counter to loudly demand why her coffee isn’t ready yet.
According to the staff who were present at that time, she said she has a meeting to go to and that they are too slow and are wasting her time… even though it has only been a few minutes.
All of her antics have been captured by the CCTV within the café.
As revealed in the footage, the customer, who wasn’t even wearing her face mask, was seen berating the staff working behind the counter, aggressively gesticulating with her arms, looking extremely agitated.
The worker didn’t want to aggravate the situation and politely apologized for the “delay” and asked her to wear her mask, but it all fell on deaf ears.
After a mere 5 minutes of ordering the coffee, the wife of the owner of the café served the lady’s coffee herself.
Despite this gesture, the wife was continuously berated and humiliated by the customer.
Well, that’s definitely a “Karen” if you’ve never seen one.
Giving her a little taste of her own medicine
The taukeh of the café, 36-year-old Mr Ping (冯先生), wasn’t around during the incident but he found out about the lady and her unreasonable behaviour from his employees who were present.
Naturally, he wasn’t happy how the lady treated his staff and his wife, so, he thought he should give the customer a little taste of her own medicine.
He posted the CCTV-captured photo of the lady on Instagram along with the caption “Please never return to my café”.
Netizens rightfully criticized the ridiculously-privileged attitude and behaviour of the lady customer, and gave the staff of the café encouragement for having to deal with this type of unreasonable customers.
The owner of the café is grateful for the outpour of support, but he ended up deleting the post, stating that he intends to report the customer to the police.
She visited the cafe before
According to Mr Ping, this isn’t the first time the same lady made a ruckus at his café.
Last year, she complained that their coffee was too sweet and started scolding the staff for doing a poor job of making her coffee
The staff still remembered the incident and hence could identify her immediately when she walked through the door on 31 March.
Perhaps a little stint in court might change her behaviour for the better, but I doubt it.
