HarbourFront Centre will shut its doors in the second half of 2026 for a complete transformation into a 33-storey mixed-use building, owner Mapletree Investments announced on 28 Oct 2025.
The redevelopment project is expected to be completed by the first half of 2031.
Building Specifications
The new development will span 123,000 sq m and feature 26 floors of Grade A office space alongside five floors designated for retail and experiential spaces.
The building will replace the existing 13-storey structure, which was originally built in 1978 as the World Trade Centre and later renamed HarbourFront Centre in 2003.
Mapletree received provisional permission from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) in 2023 to redevelop the site into 101,326 sq m of office space and 42,000 sq m of retail space, reported The Business Times.
The proposed total gross floor area represents approximately 47 per cent more space than the existing building.
Elevated Park and Waterfront Features
The redevelopment will include a 13,000 sq m elevated park positioned next to a newly created stretch of waterfront promenade. Visitors and tenants can expect sunset views of the Singapore Strait along with designated areas for waterfront walks and activities.
The development will offer 360-degree panoramic views encompassing the sea to the south, the Southern Ridges and the city skyline to the north. Bicycle parking and end-of-trip facilities will be provided to encourage sustainable commuting via the coastal cycling network in the Greater Southern Waterfront.
Sustainability Elements
The new building will incorporate a solar photovoltaic system to reduce dependence on grid energy, sustainable water management practices, and a smart lighting system. Electric vehicle charging stations will also be installed as part of the development’s green initiatives.
Strategic Location
The development sits between VivoCity to the east and HarbourFront Towers One and Two to the west. A new two-storey cruise and ferry terminal, currently under construction next to the existing HarbourFront Centre, will commence operations around the second half of 2026.
The site maintains direct connectivity to HarbourFront MRT station on the North East and Circle lines. Connectivity will be further strengthened with the completion of the Circle Line loop in the first half of 2026.
Terminal Relocation
Ferry and cruise operations at HarbourFront Passenger Terminal will relocate to a new interim terminal around the second half of 2026, operated by Singapore Cruise Centre.
