This comes after the Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong announced higher grants and income ceilings for flat buyers. If you’d have remembered, the sales exercise was supposed to be last month but was postponed to this month due to the revised system.

The income ceilings for Singaporean households to buy new HDB flats was raised from $12,000 to $14,000.

For singles aged 35 and above, the new income ceiling will be $7,000 up from $6,000.

Prices start at $109,000 for a two-room flexi flat in Punggol, and from $312,000 for a four-room flat in Tampines.

Housing Grant

The new Enhanced CPF Housing Grant places no restrictions on flat buyers’ choice of flat or type of location, and can be used for new or resale flats.

It also gives eligible first-timer families with a monthly income of up to $9,000 up to $80,000 in grants.

So, now that more people can afford BTOs, what’s on the menu?

And the third’s for people who’ve always claimed that east side best side: in Tampines, somewhere around Tampines North Drive 1 and Tampines Street 64.

According to HDB, “Tampines GreenGlen is designed to mimic a valley with its 6 residential blocks cascading in height from 16 to 9 storeys. The name is also inspired by the development’s natural surroundings.”

Application for these flats open from 11 Sept and will end on 17 Sept.

Future BTO Flats

Don’t want to stay in the BTO-est area or hate the east side? No worries. HDB will offer another 4,500 BTO flats in Ang Mo Kio, Tampines and Tengah in November.

3,000 more BTO flats will be released in Sembawang and Toa Payoh next February.
