To those healthcare workers who are out there saving lives, here’s a message:
You guys can’t sing.
So please, don’t join Singapore Idol…because you’re already our Singapore Idols.
Healthcare Workers Came Together to Sing Home; Not S’pore Idol Standard But Still Our S’pore Idols
Dr Valerie Tay is an ear, nose and throat surgeon, and she has a whopping 30 subscribers in her YouTube channel.
She, together with her healthcare professional friends, can’t sing for shit.
Actually there are a few who can sing lah, but that’s not the key.
The key is that the good doctor is showing us the faces that have been getting praises all over the world, the faces that kept the fight going even when it never seemed to end, the faces that we’ve all forgotten to thank because we never see them and the faces that we appreciate but never see.
Here’s the video:
Some of them are so adorable, I feel like reaching out into my monitor to pinch their cheeks, but #safedistancing
I mean, did you check out these heroes acting cute, which no one minds at all?
And this blue angel who tried so hard to sing like JJ Lin but sounded like William Hung?
Sometimes, a song doesn’t need the best melody or the best singers; it just need the best message.
According to Dr Tay, the video was made to promote social solidarity. She said to The Straits Times, “I saw that many healthcare workers were getting rather concerned about Covid-19, something which we have been battling for over two months. The man on the street was also getting anxious and isolated as the outbreak worsens.
“I felt that a collaborative effort to raise our spirits would be useful. Despite the physical distancing measures, we have to continue to reach out to one another to promote social solidarity.”
I’m embedding the video again so that listening to it now again would have a whole new meaning.
