Here are The Timings For the Last Bus & Train Services on New Year’s Eve, With Some After 3:00 a.m.

It’s 27 Dec 2018, and you know what that means:

My aunt Matilda’s birthday is coming up!

And indeed, I’m sure the whole world will be celebrating as my dear aunt is poised to cut her birthday cake for the 69th time…

“Hey, it’s not about your damn aunt Matilda you ****tard,” my editor roared.

But that’s like the most important event in history…

Screw your aunt Matilda I hate Matildas you hear me,” he roared.

I’m gonna cry.

“I DON’T CARE. JUST TALK ABOUT THE DAMN HEADLINE.”

Fine.

Extension of last bus & train services

As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted by my beloved editor, it’s 27 Dec 2018 and you know what that means;

It’s gonna be the new year soon!

Yayyyyy.

As such you will no doubt be celebrating the festivity, drawing up new year resolutions you’ll probably abandon after one week and wriggling in a crowd of sweat-filled flesh as a random announcer counts down to 2019. Now do not misunderstand me; that’s perfectly fine and all, but there’s just one little complication.

How are you gonna get home?

History has proven that when the clock strikes 12:01 a.m. on the first of every January, private hire car driver became richer by a tad when price surges would strike our wallet painfully.

Well, if you’re prepared to splash some dough on uncle cabbies that you can’t find or make some private hire car drivers happy af, here’s the good thing:

You don’t have to anymore.

For SBS Transit, the transportation company we adore so much, has announced its extension of train services on the festive night!

According to Channel News Asia, the train and bus operator had expressed on Wednesday (26 Dec) that train services on the North East Line (NEL) and the Downtown Line (DTL) will be extended by at least two hours.

On the Downtown Line, the last trains will be exiting Bayfront Station (the nearest station to the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown site) at 2:17 a.m. (on 1 Jan) towards Expo Station and 2:27 a.m. towards Bukit Panjang.

The SengKang and Punggol LRTs will also operate until after the last NEL train reaches SengKang and Punggol respectively.

Bus Services

For the bus fanatics, do not panick: you’re not excluded. In a bid to complement the extended train hours, the operating hours of at least 26 SBS Transit bus services and 13 SMRT bus services will also be extended.

A number of bus services by both operators will have revised schedules on New Year’s Eve as well.

But wait a min

Is it safe? After all, everyone’s gonna squeeze in together, and leave together.

Will someone die of breathing difficulties?

Well as it turns out, the men in blue have prepared for that circumstance. According to the police, in the event of overcrowding, certain exits of MRT stations around Marina Bay may be closed and the crowd directed to other areas

The police also added that large crowds may leave relatively slowly after the event, and cautioned the public to be patient and follow security personnel’s instructions.

So…

Rest assured, for all your material needs seem to have been taken care of on the festive night.

So relax, chill and enjoy the atmosphere that’s the end of 2018.

Though whether 2019 will be a better year remains to be seen.
