Australia’s Bushfire Situation

Raging bushfires have been a huge problem in Australia since earlier this year in September.

While bushfires are a common annual thing in Australia, especially in the drier months of the year, this problem has been exceptionally bad this year.

In this year alone, these horrible bushfires have burnt down about one million hectares of land and destroyed close to 400 homes.

A lot of the land that was affected by bushfires happen to be the homes of different kinds of wildlife, many of which sadly were killed in these gruesome fires.

While an estimate of about 350 koalas have been killed by these killer fires, one koala managed to escape near-death thanks to a heroic woman who happened to pass by.

What Happened?

KXAN Austin News posted a Facebook video showing exactly what went down.

At first there was a koala who was seen alone and was showed to be struggling to escape.

The koala then decides to climb onto a tree and he is then seen holding onto the tree-trunk helplessly.

This is when a lady is seen running to its rescue.

She took off her shirt so that she could protect the koala from further harm from the flames. With the little koala in her arms, she then ran away to safety.

Later in the video, the lady gives the scared koala some water and she also proceeds to attempt to clean up its wounds.

The poor koala was in so much pain it could be heard whimpering.

The woman then reportedly sent the little injured koala to the hospital to receive further treatment.

If not for the heroic lady who put the tiny creature’s safety before her own, the little koala might not have made it to see another day.

Cases like this just goes to show that there is still good in the world. We hope there will be more kind-hearted people like that lady and that the little koala is resting well and off to a speedy recovery.
