The Covid-19 pandemic has proven monstrous in its onslaught thus far, and it seems that its rippling effects have still yet to come to a standstill.
According to MustShareNews, the Halloween Horror Nights, a yearly event held by Universal Studios Singapore (USS), will not be taking place this year.
And though the thought process leading to the cancellation was not specified, one can surmise that the cancellation…
Is highly likely to be linked to the strict Covid-19 restrictions in place.
No Halloween Horror Nights This Year Due To Covid-19
On 9 September, Universal Studios Singapore announced on their Facebook page that they will not be holding the Halloween Horror Nights event this year.
According to the post, they described the cancellation as a “difficult decision”, and expressed their disappointment at having to do so.
However, they also promised to focus on the other experiences in the park in a bid to continue bringing thrills to the crowd. At the same time, they conveyed their optimism that the event will return one day, scarier and more thrilling than ever.
“Universal Studios Singapore has made the difficult decision to not hold the Halloween Horror Nights event this year,” the notice wrote.
“Like all of you, we are disappointed by this decision. But more than that, we are optimistic that it will return one day, scarier and more thrilling than ever.”

Of course, with the Halloween Horror Nights cancelled, it also means that they’re not hiring the many young people, some of them professional scare actors, needed to scare the jeejebuzz out of you.
More jobs, gone.
And Netizens Can’t Hold Back Their Emotions
After the announcement went live, reactions and shares began pouring in.
Netizens were also unable to hold back their emotions, with many expressing their sadness at the news.
However, some did recognise the validity of the decision.
And others suggested that there’s no need for a Halloween Horror Nights this year, as a particularly horrifying entity already exists in its place.
And though some may disagree, I, personally, am inclined to agree.
We’ve already had an entire pandemic f*cking us over. There’s no real need for human ‘cos-players’ to add on to that, is there?
Halloween Horror Nights
For 9 years, Halloween Horror Nights have thrilled the Singaporean audience with a blend of Halloween festivities and horrifying jumpscares.
The event has also gotten progressively larger every year, with last year’s rendition taking place between 27 Sep and 31 Oct.
Themes also include Western horror, as well as local ones like the Hanti Galah and toyol.
And though it may not be held this year…
One can at least take solace in the notion that more likely than not, they are going to come back bigger, better…
And generally scarier.
So let’s keep our fingers crossed that the pandemic will be kept under control by this time next year…
Because if there’s one thing for sure, we’re set to be in for a really… wild ride.
