There’s a number of discrepancies in the headline: aren’t all KTVs closed? Why does MOH want to test people who’ve been to a certain place with infectious COVID-19 confirmed cases, because you’ve often thought that all you need to do is to monitor your health for 14 days?
Well, it’s all due to a word: precautionary measure.
Reader: That’s two words
Then here’s the correct word: kiasi.
MOH Wants to Test People Who’ve Visited a KTV in HomeTeamNS Khatib
Previously, it was reported that two COVID-19 confirmed cases have been to the clubhouse five times after it was open. According to HomeTeamNs then, they’ve mentioned that they have “visited” the clubhouse.
The two patients, who were both asymptomatic, had been in the premises during these period:
- 31 July 2020, 5:45pm to 9pm
- 1 August 2020: 2pm to 2:45pm (Suki-Suki Thai Hot Pot) and 6:40pm to 8:45pm (Orchid Live Seafood)
- 2 August 2020: 2:45pm to 6:30pm
- 3 August 2020: 1:40pm to 8pm
Technically speaking, these will be taken off the list soon as it’d have been more than 14 days since the last visit by tomorrow (17 August 2020).
But the clubhouse, unfortunately, didn’t get a breather because yesterday (15 August 2020), a new case has been reported to have “visited” the premises.
According to MOH, this new case, together with the two previously confirmed cases, had visited Jewel Music Box KTV at HomeTeamNS Khatib on 1 August and 2 August 2020.
Amongst them, two had been at the KTV for long periods for work purposes.
The mystery of whether employees or visitors were infected have, well, been solved, no?
Visitors were invited to preview the new, yet to be opened KTV premise on 1 August and 2 August, and most stayed for a short period of time. The KTV was not operational during the visits and there were no singing activities held.
MOH therefore assessed that the risk of infection is low.
However, as a precautionary measure, MOH will be contacting all visitors to the KTV on these two days and facilitating COVID-19 testing for them. Those who are unwell when contacted will be conveyed to the hospital for further medical assessment.
As for other places listed in the MOH list, you merely have to monitor your health for the next 14 days. Here’s the latest list lest you’ve not been keeping tabs on it:
HomeTeamNS Khatib Responds
The new clubhouse that’s got the publicity it didn’t wanted has since responded.
In an update to the previous media release, they’ve echoed what MOH said, and added that the new individual who’s infected was asymptomatic during his “time of visit”.
During the two days, visitors (as in, visitors who visited the premises for visitation purposes. Geddit?) have only been allowed to take a quick walk around the premises to view the layout.
