If you’ve written your resignation letter and intend to throw it to your boss on Monday, you most probably are tearing that letter now, for winning $10 can’t even cover the Grab cost to the office.
If you’ve already tendered your resignation, and made some nasty remarks to your boss a few weeks back because you’re 101% certain that you’ll be $13.6 million richer today, then I’d suggest you polish up your résumé and perhaps take a look at job platforms like Jobstreet or JobsDB.
Unless, that is, you’re one of the two fellows who has bought your tickets from Yishun.
Or specifically, from the Cold Storage outlet in Northpoint City Shopping Centre or Sheng Siong outlet in Junction Nine.
Yeah, you’ve read it right: both tickets are bought from supermarkets in shopping malls.
And both are in Yishun.
A wise man said, “All good things must come to an end.”
Guess we didn’t hear his next sentence: “All bad things must also come to an end, like Yishun.”
Both Tickets Are QuickPick
Lest you’re like me who’s yet to check your tickets because you’re certain you’d have won, here are the numbers:
Each Yishunite (or simply a future millionaire who decided to go to Yishun) won over $6.8 million. Another twenty-two winners won about $100K each.
900K of us won $10, so chances are you’d have a friend who’s won something.
And to be more specific, these are the details of the Group 1 winners:
- Cold Storage Northpoint – 930 Yishun Ave 2 #B1-09/12 Northpoint Shopping Centre ( 1 QuickPick Ordinary Entry )
- Sheng Siong Junction 9 – 18 Yishun Avenue 9 #02-05 to #02-10 Junction 9 ( 1 QuickPick Ordinary Entry )
Yeah, both are QuickPick, so if you still think that your ancestors do come to your dreams to give you numbers, you might need to dream on.
Where (and What) is Junction Nine?
Most people would be familiar with Northpoint City Shopping Centre, since it’s just beside the lucky Yishun MRT Station.
But Junction Nine?
It’s actually a mall + condo that’s farther away from Yishun MRT Station, but you can still walk there if you’re not a cat and aren’t afraid of bodies falling from the sky.
According to Google Maps, it’ll take about 13 minutes to reach there by foot.
And guess what? They’re pretty proud that they’ve a winner there, too, as they posted this on their Facebook Page:
I don’t know about you, but prior to this, I didn’t even know the existence of the mall.
Now, I’m pretty sure it’ll always be crowded after CNY #justsaying
