Last night (11 Feb), Singapore Pools released the news that eight punters shared their $19,416,908 jackpot. Hence, the winners will be walking home with a dividend of $2.43 million each, which means there might be eight job openings very soon.
Lest you’re not aware, this annual event falls on the Lunar New Year. And to stand a chance to win, you bet on numbers you deem “lucky”.
Here’s a breakdown:
- Pick at least six numbers between one and 49
- Singapore Pools will draw six winning numbers, along with an additional one.
- You win a cash prize if at least three of your numbers are contained in the six winning ones.
- To hit the jackpot, you need to have all your numbers matched with the winning ones.
With the ToTo draw heralding a new year of fortune, this year’s jackpot was double that of last year’s $9.6 million.
According to Singapore Pool’s website, the prize money is the highest in recent history.
For this year, the lucky numbers happened to be: 09,13,14,16,18, 28 and additionally, 10. The organiser drew these numbers at a fateful 9.30 pm on Friday.
Singapore Pools also released the location of the winning ticket purchases; one of the winners bought theirs online (or on the phone, but what’s a phone again?), which means ah…maybe Cai Shen Ye also go digital liao.
Jackpot aside, some other participants also won the lower-tiered cash prizes.
It seems this was a lucky draw; previous draws resulted in snowballed prize money because there were no winners.
Long Queues and Zest
The lottery firm extended its opening hours on the same day, with most branches operating from 8.30 am to 9 pm.
Interestingly, people have also taken to social media platforms such as Tiktok to show their enthusiasm for the event.
