Yesterday (21 June 2023), at about 5:30pm, a fatal accident occurred at the junction of Hougang Avenue 3 and Kim Chuan Road, involving a 31-year-old Traffic Police (TP) officer and a 58-year-old pedestrian.
Images of the aftermath of the accident have since been circulated on social media.
The 58-year-old man has succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

58YO Dies After Collision With Traffic Police Bike at Hougang
According to The Straits Times, the police were alerted to the accident at the junction of Hougang Avenue 3 and Kim Chuan Road at about 5:30pm.
The 58-year-old man was reportedly hit by the TP bike.
It’s unknown how the accident took place.
In the images circulated online, a man in a red top can be seen on the grass, with a black bag on his body and blood on his right leg. There were two people standing beside him.
The man was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital but later died from his injuries.
Another photo showed the TP officer on the kerb of the road. His bike appears to be metres away from him, at the middle of the road, lying on its side, with its blue and red lights on, suggesting that it could be in a rush.
The police have urged the public not to circulate photos and videos of the incident.
Police investigations are ongoing.

Another TP Officer Involved in Accident Last Month
A month ago, on 10 May, a TP officer was taken to hospital after an accident involving his police motorcycle and a car along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) at about 7:10am.
The 36-year-old officer was then taken to taken conscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Similarly, videos and images of the aftermath of the accident were circulated widely on social media.
