Always buying things online because you don’t want to spend as much? Even weight loss products because they’re always a fraction of the price at GNC?

Well, if you are, here’s one product that you should stop taking immediately: Queenz Mango Xsliim Botanical Beverage Mix Mango Powder with Garcinia Cambogia & Aloe Vera Extract

According to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), testing of the product found that it contains “potent ingredients” that causes “adverse effects” when taken.

HSA advised for consumers to stop taking the product immediately and if they are unwell or concerned about their health, to go see a doctor immediately.

Contains Banned Substances

Tests found that the product contains sibutramine, an appetite suppressant which has been discontinued in many countries.

It was banned in Singapore back in 2010 because it carries an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

In 2019, a consumer who consumed BB Body, which contains sibutramine, lost consciousness, according to HSA. She was eventually resuscitated and had to be implanted with a defibrillator.

Sennoside is a laxative that is typically used to relieve constipation.

Prolonged use could lead to chronic constipation, bloating, abdominal pain and fluid and electrolyte abnormalities.

Two consumers who had taken the product, Queenz Mango Xsliim Botanical Beverage Mix, experienced discomfort in the chest, increased heartbeat and a dry mouth.

The product is sold online at e-commerce platforms like Qoo10, Lazada, Carousell and Shopee as well as on Facebook.

Misleading Claims

The product claims to help promote fat loss even without the need for a diet or working out.

Moral of the story: if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

The product also misled consumers, according to the HSA:

“It also falsely misled consumers with claims such as ‘healthy and natural’ slimming product with fruit and botanical extracts for ‘body detoxification’ and ‘weight management to benefit our body’.”

It was added that online reviews should not be trusted too much as they are unable to be verified.

Listings Taken Down, Enforcement Action Possible

HSA also said that the affected listings of the products were taken down by website administrators and warnings were given to the sellers.

Sales of the product must stop immediately and should anyone be caught continuing to sell or supply products with banned or potent ingredients, they could be jailed for up to two years, fined up to $10,000, or both.

For those who have more information about the sal and supply of the product, you can contact HSA via 6866 3485 from Monday to Friday during office hours or email [email protected].

Lose Weight The Right Way

As the saying goes: if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

HSA reminds members of the public that in order to lose weight, you need a combination of diet control and the appropriate exercise.
