Huawei, Huawei, Huawei again.

Times have been tough for the Chinese technology giant Huawei, with them getting banned everywhere in the United States, including large companies that theyโ€™d been depending on for essential materials and functions that their phones need.

With this uncertainty that Huaweiโ€™s mobile devices can cater to the needs of consumers nowadays, namely because we cannot live without Google, YouTube, Facebook and just about basically every non-Chinese social media app out there that Huawei may not be able to provide access to in the future, obviously people are steering clear of Huawei now.

Donโ€™t lie โ€“ you probably thought of putting yours up for sale as soon as the news broke.

Plunging Sales

In fact, the decline of Huaweiโ€™s sales are so bad that itโ€™s plunged 40% and the company could miss its revenue numbers for the current year by as much as $30 billion, according to CEO and founder Ren Zhengfei. Thatโ€™s a biiiiig, biiiiig amount of money โ€“ imagine having to lose all of it.

Of course, for the company to have come this far already, they mustโ€™ve had some brains in planning their next business moves. When thereโ€™s a problem, there will be a solution, right? Huaweiโ€™s indeed come up with an initiative to counter the poor sales of late.

If You Canโ€™t Use Google Appsโ€ฆ

Huaweiโ€™s offering this special warranty to users: if popular Google and Facebook apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, Gmail, Instagram, and more are unable to function on the mobile device, theyโ€™ll promise a full refund of it.

Yep, a 100% refund if you canโ€™t access those apps on your phone.

Sounds like a good bargain, right? Huaweiโ€™s aiming to boost customer confidence in buying their smartphones with this move and improve the falling sales.

Though no one knows how theyโ€™re going to pull that off.

Sadly, the special warranty is only available in the Philippines, and not Singapore just yet, so if you still insist of having a Huawei phone and want the extra assurance, youโ€™ll have to register for a phone in the Philippines instead.

โ€œItโ€™s an initiative of our distributors with our dealers,โ€ Huawei said in confirmation of this deal. As of now, over 30 dealers and retailers in the Philippines are going to offer the special warranty as a support to Huawei.

If the plan goes as well as expected, maybe the warranty will be extended to other countries as well in the near future โ€“ but letโ€™s hope the apps actually still do work so it doesnโ€™t have to come to this in the first place.

Well, I donโ€™t know how many people will still buy Huawei, but it must feel nice knowing that if thereโ€™s a problem with your phone, youโ€™re still able to get back every single centโ€ฆ
