For most, the 10-11 April period would have been nothing more than a nuance. Just another weekend to tide through, so to speak.
But for some, 10-11 April meant Magic Mike.
Cleaning edition.
So lest you’re unaware, design and renovation portal Vehs had unveiled a “Hunky Man Cleaning Service” over that golden weekend.
As its name implies, people will be there to clean your house for you. And they’re all men in the hunkiest sense: tall, good-looking and impeccably buff.
Though of course, it did not come cheap. Apparently, it would cost you some S$420 to wipe down a one-bedroom HDB flat or condo unit, to S$700 for a penthouse.
All in all, not a very market-friendly rate.
But did it deter thirsty women and men from engaging in their services?
No.
Rather, it, for lack of a better-describing term, “boomz-ed”.
Hunk Cleaning Service in S’pore Reportedly Reached 5.8 Million People With Over 70 Requests
According to The Straits Times, Vehs’ “Hunky Man Cleaning Service” has proven to be immensely popular with the crowd, with its promotional offer garnering more than 5.8 million views and 900,000 engagements on the social media platform.
It wasn’t just public fanfare either, as there were apparently over 70 requests for an ‘up-close’ experience of the “Hunky Man Cleaning Service”.
“We have more than 70 requests for our models to clean, vacuum and mop homes in Singapore,” says Mr Jameson Koh, founder of Vehs.com.
Not a bad return considering how their prices weren’t exactly wallet-friendly, with a one-bedroom unit going for $420++ and a penthouse going for $700++.
According to the news report, the “limited-time service” Facebook campaign was created in collaboration with promotions agency Shout.sg, to promote an upcoming virtual renovation exhibition that will run from 24 April 2021 to 9 May 2021.
And Apparently, It May Just Become An Actual Trade
Initially, Mr Koh had no real prior plans to continue the service beyond the weekend.
It was, after all, intended to be a marketing gimmick.
But public attention and inquiries have changed all that. And Mr Koh is now planning to continue the unique service.
Though instead of the men featured in the campaign, he will be going with replacement models.
“The four men in our Facebook post are part-time models who have full-time jobs or are undergraduates. I am in talks with other models who are game for the experience of cleaning households and showing off their ripped physique.”
Apparently, there hasn’t exactly been a shortage of applicants either.
“I have also received inquiries from more than 20 young men with good physiques who say they are interested in joining the ‘homme team’ to help clean up Singapore.”
So if anything else, it appears that the “Hunky Man Cleaning Service” has only just started.
Mr Koh says: “We strive to innovate and do things differently at Vehs.com. We wanted a tongue-in-cheek way to reach out to Singapore, but we got more than we could ever expect.”
