For a lot West-siders, one of the worst things you could ever be asked to do is to go to the ICA Building at Lavender. Instead of the classic “Journey to the West”, you become the star of a one-hour MRT Journey to the East.
The new ICA Services Centre (ISC) will be opening from 7 April 2025. Unfortunately for West-siders, the ISC is also located on the same street at the current ICA Building. But keep your head up — there are still several exciting things to look forward to with the new ISC.
Here’s what you need to know about it.
New ICA Services Centre Will Open Beside Current ICA Building from 7 April 2025
The new ISC, located at 2 Crawford Street, Singapore 207218, will be opening on 7 April 2025.
Huh? Where is Crawford Street?
Well, 2 Crawford Street is essentially the building adjacent to the current ICA Building. Yes, you read that right — if you want to head to the ISC, you still have to head all the way to Lavender.
Good luck West-siders!
The ISC will maintain the same operating hours as the ICA Building, which is Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30pm.
So, if you’re already planning your trip to the new ISC when it opens, don’t go when it’s closed lah, hor?
And take note that you can’t park at the ISC for now either. Public parking will only be made available two years later in 2027. For now, you could park at alternative carparks such as that at North Bridge Road, Crawford Lane, or French Road.
Or, if you’re feeling rich after all those ang bao earnings from CNY, you could also take a Grab to the new ISC. The new ISC will have a drop off point at its entrance.
Alternatively, if you’ve already lost all your CNY ang bao money to that one cousin who’s way too good at mahjong, then you should probably practise some financial responsibility and take public transport to the new ISC lah.
The new ISC is actually pretty accessible. It is right beside Lavender MRT station, and there are two nearby bus stops serving it as well.
The nearest MRT station, Lavender MRT station, is only a two-minute walk from the new ISC. As for bus stops, the nearest ones are Lavender Station Exit A/ICA (01319) and Lavender Station Exit B (01311).
Singapore’s public transport system will never fail you lah (unless you’re talking about the Circle Line peak hour train fault today…).
ICA Building Counter Services Suspended from 1 to 4 April 2025; Only Urgent Requests Allowed
If you’re planning to head down to the ICA Building in early April, there’s one thing you should take note of — from 1 to 4 April 2025, counter services at the current ICA Building will be suspended.
Huh? Why?
Well, it’s to ensure the smooth transition of services from the current ICA Building to the new ISC. This transition period will allow the ICA officers to, as the Gen Zs say these days, “lock in” for the final preparations for the new ISC such as by performing stress tests and fine-tuning systems and processes.
During this period, no walk-ins will be served. Counter services will be provided only to customers with urgent requests such as passport for urgent travel, oath-taking for minors turning 22 years old between 1 to 6 April 2025, or the completion of formalities for immigration passes expiring between 1 and 6 April 2025.
So when they say urgent, they really mean it. If you need your passport for a 2026 trip to Bali, walao, just wait a few more days for the ISC to open lah. Don’t need to kan chiong one.
Customers with urgent requests must produce supporting documents and will be assessed and served on a case by case basis.
And if you’re worried about whether you can still use the MyICA application to go through Woodlands Checkpoint and enjoy your lok lok from 1 to 4 April 2025, fret not. The suspension of services at the ICA Building will not affect the MyICA mobile application or the ICA website.
Any applications may continue to be submitted online via the ICA website or the MyICA app.
The New ISC: An End-to-End Seamless Transaction Experience and A Suite of Services at a Single Touchpoint
But what makes the new ISC so special?
Well, if you’ve ever been to the ICA Building, you would understand the struggle of having to stand in front of the signboards for five minutes, staring at them, wondering which floor the service you need is on, and still having to eventually resort to asking for help from staff.
With the new ISC, you won’t have to look so sua ku standing in front of the signboards at the ICA Building anymore.
According to the ICA, with the new ISC, you’ll be able to “enjoy an end-to-end and more seamless transaction experience, and can be served a suite of services at a single touchpoint.”
That’s a win in our books lah.
But that’s not all. From July 2025, you can also self-collect your identity card and passport from automated kiosks at the ISC without having to make an appointment.
Yes, you read that right. While you currently have to make an appointment for collection of identity cards and passports from the ICA Building, in just a few months, all you have to do to collect your identity card or passport is to head to the ISC anytime you’re free, and get your identity card and passport from a kiosk.
“The operationalisation of the ISC realises ICA’s vision for its Services Centre Next-Generation. ICA is committed to further enhancing our customers’ experience,” ICa added.
Shiok lah. So, what do you think about the new ISC?
